In 1999, ARCA opened its third La Paloma Greenhouse in Corrales, creating more opportunities for people to learn new skills and get involved in the community. 💚💛

From growing plants to preparing them for sale, ARCA’s La Paloma Greenhouse offered opportunities to build independence and take pride in meaningful work.

With support from community partners, the greenhouse continued to grow, along with the opportunities it provided.

In 1998, ARCA was working to open more doors to the community through accessible transportation. 💚💛

Access to a wheelchair accessible van meant more opportunities to get out, participate in activities, and be part of the community.

That year, ARCA raised funds for a new accessible van to help make those opportunities possible for the people we serve.

It was another step toward greater independence, access, and community participation.

Drake enjoys music, spending time with family, and being part of his community. 💚 He loves to sing, act, and enjoy a little karaoke whenever he gets the chance.

He also enjoys attending traditional dances, celebrating Santa Clara Pueblo customs, and planning his next adventure. ✨

In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act became law, opening doors to greater access and opportunity for people with disabilities nationwide. 💚💛

The ADA strengthened protections in employment, public services, transportation, and public spaces, helping remove barriers to community participation.

For ARCA, it was another important step forward in a movement families and advocates had been building for decades.

As ARCA continued opening doors in New Mexico, the ADA helped open more doors for people with disabilities nationwide.
