September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and I want to talk about something that doesn't get said enough: bodywork isn't a replacement for mental health treatment, but it is a real part of a support system.
Massage therapy won't cure depression or "fix" a crisis, please hear that clearly. But touch, safety, and nervous system regulation matter. When we're overwhelmed, our body often gets stuck in fight-flight-freeze. Massage can help downshift that stress response, ease the physical toll anxiety and depression take on the body (tight shoulders, shallow breathing, that bone-deep exhaustion), and create a space where someone feels cared for and not alone, even for an hour.
If you're struggling, please reach out to a mental health professional, and know that support is always available at the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988).
And if you're someone who carries a lot in your body β grief, burnout, anxiety, the weight of just getting through the day β you don't have to wait for a crisis to come get taken care of. My space is trauma-informed, judgment-free, and built for people who need to feel human again for a little while.
