The exercise isn’t always the hard part. Keeping kids engaged is.
Compliance is one of the biggest challenges we run into when working with kids, especially when we’re asking them to practice the same thing over and over at home.
Lately, I’ve had a couple of simple wins in the office that have made practice feel a whole lot less like… practice. 😂
One is using movement cards to break things up and get their whole body involved. The other is ridiculously simple: a popper.
Ten repetitions? Ten pops.
Five rounds? Five pops.
Sometimes we don’t need a brand-new exercise. We just need a better way to keep a child engaged in the one we’re already doing.
Sharing in case you’re working with kiddos too, whether that’s in the therapy room or at home.
What has worked for your kid? I’m always looking for more ideas.
