APEX Brain Centers

APEX Brain Centers Build a Better Brain, Live a Better Life vision, hearing, smell, touch, proprioception, etc.). Dr. Michael S. Trayford - Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist

Research over the past several decades has clearly demonstrated that two critical components of success with regard to the brain’s ability to learn and grow throughout life, termed neuroplasticity, are the frequency and intensity at which the brain is stimulated via the body’s various sensory systems (i.e. APEX Brain Centers has combined these critical components into a revolutionary, boot camp st

yle Brain Training program that will assist the individual in meeting functional gains that would typically take months to years to realize in a traditional clinical setting in just a matter of days to weeks! By combining multiple research-based, cutting edge Brain Training modalities in this unique ‘rapid-fire’ approach, continuously directed and customized by objective neurological testing data, we are able to more effectively address the underlying brain dysfunction in adults with learning and behavioral challenges, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions; as well as enhancing athletic, academic and artistic performance in those looking to elevate their current level of brain and body function.

Two sons. Two different brains. Two different paths. 🧠❤️

And that’s exactly why individualized care matters.

This mom knows firsthand that neurological diagnoses don’t tell the whole story.

Her sons have different diagnoses. Different challenges. Different strengths. Different needs.

So why would we expect them to respond to the exact same approach?

At APEX Brain Centers, we believe in meeting people where they are—not where we wish they were.

We look at the individual in front of us, understand how their brain is functioning, and build care around their unique needs.

Because neurological recovery isn’t about forcing everyone down the same path.

It’s about finding the right next step for that person.

Different brains.
Different needs.
Different paths.

But always a way forward. 💙

Dr. Zaremba shares some key insights and examples of smart supplementations strategies that we use to enhance patient outcomes.
🧠
Yes...many nutritional supplements have limited direct evidence, but they are still highly sought after. When used correctly and as part of an individualized treatment plan, they can be a game changer.
🧠
A good practitioner should be able to tell you the WHY behind any supplement recommendation and a long term plan for sustainable lifestyle changes. Do you take supplements for brain health?

Concussion recovery isn’t something you should have to guess about. 🧠

Feeling “better” is important—but it doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Objective testing can help identify what’s actually happening with the brain and nervous system, including areas that may still be struggling even when symptoms have improved.

From balance and eye movements to cognitive performance, reaction time, autonomic function, and more, measuring function gives us a clearer picture of recovery.

Because the goal isn’t simply to feel better.

The goal is to get the brain functioning better.

Objective data helps guide treatment, track progress, and determine when someone is truly ready to move forward.

More present and engaged with the family. For families dealing with and other stroke-related challenges, that is the ultimate goal.

David was responding well to PT, OT, and speech therapy, but after speaking with another APEX Brain Centers patient, his family decided to take a leap of faith and travel ✈️ from Connecticut to NC for intensive brain rehab.

By the end of his first week, he was able to say more words but that is just the tip of the iceberg. The true benefit was him asking meaningful questions, interacting in ways that show meaningful contextual awareness.

So many with retreat from the world as the communication challenges can feel insurmountable. That's where we come in!

Our care wasn't a replacement, but a major enhancer of David's response to the other great providers who had been working woth him all along. It can be incredible to see the changes when the brain is given the right inputs and treatment.

What if we stopped measuring aphasia recovery by how many words someone can say? 🧠

This stroke survivor joking with his daughter is a perfect example. 😂

He may still have moments where he’s off in his “own little world”…

…but he’s engaging. He’s connecting. He’s communicating. He’s being himself.

And THAT matters.

Aphasia isn’t black and white.

It can affect speaking, understanding, reading, writing, word-finding, and the ability to express thoughts—and it can look completely different from one person to the next.

That’s why recovery doesn’t always mean:

❌ More words
❌ Longer sentences
❌ Perfect speech

Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs look like:

✅ More engagement
✅ More attempts to communicate
✅ Better understanding
✅ More interaction with loved ones
✅ More humor and personality
✅ More connection

Progress isn’t always about what someone can SAY.

Sometimes it’s about how much more they can CONNECT. ❤️

And those moments deserve to be celebrated.

One of the biggest shifts in Alzheimer's research over the past decade is the recognition that it isn't always driven by a single process.
🧠
This conversation between Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Richard Horowitz highlights Lyme disease as one potential contributor for some individuals. Whether or not Lyme is involved, it points to a much larger concept: cognitive decline is often influenced by multiple biological processes occurring at the same time.
👀
In our practice, we don't assume every patient has the same underlying cause. We investigate potential contributors such as insulin resistance, chronic infections, vascular health, environmental toxicant exposure, nutrient status, sleep quality, previous brain injuries, and other factors that can affect long-term brain health.
🧡💙
The goal isn't to find the cause—it's to identify the contributors that are present for that individual and determine which ones are modifiable.
👍
The more we understand why a brain is struggling, the more opportunities we have to intervene.
⚡️
What do you think will be the biggest breakthrough in Alzheimer's prevention over the next 10 years?
