Exciting progress is underway in Princeton! The Building Strong Futures grant hosted their second Community Health Fair on April 25, where approximately 70 people received free health screenings, mental health resources, food boxes for families, and fun fitness activities for kids and parents! 🌱✨ A Day of Giving Back at O. D. Wyatt High School ✨🌱
On May 14, O.D. Wyatt High School welcomed Alcon in Action volunteers to their community garden for a meaningful day of service and collaboration. Together, they worked to grow something special for the community 🌿
Volunteers participated in:
• Harvesting plants
• Preparing new garden beds
• General garden maintenance
• Creating a walking path
• Installing a trellis and garden border
• Adding a brand-new sign: “Good Things Are Growing Here!” 🌼
This beautiful garden enhances the Chaparral THRIVE Market, a student-led grocery store on campus, helping provide fresh, locally grown produce and hands-on learning opportunities.
💚 Special thanks to Made Greene, with support from Texas Health Community Hope, for sharing their expertise and helping O. D. Wyatt High School cultivate a garden that will benefit the 76119 community for years to come!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual observance since 1949 designed to highlight the importance of mental well-being, reduce stigma, educate the public, and provide support for those affected by mental health conditions. One way you can observe the month is to consider becoming a Mental Health First Aider. Virtual training sessions are available through Texas Health Community Health every month. Students and families at South Davis Elementary School in Arlington now have more access to fresh fruits, vegetables and healthy options, thanks to its recently opened Good For You Healthy Hub. Generously supported by Atmos Energy through the Texas Health Resources Foundation and Texas Health Community Hope, the is the first location in the Arlington ISD, joining 22 Good For You locations across DFW. Employees from Atmos Energy volunteered their time to stock the shelves with fresh produce prior to the hub’s ribbon cutting, followed by a grand opening for South Davis parents and families. Access to affordable, healthy food can greatly impact health outcomes, especially in children. Combined with nutrition education, cooking demonstrations and access to other resources, the hub has the potential to create healthy habits for students that can last into adulthood.
