“Another reason why I ended up becoming an herbalist, I was seeking out predominantly my own healing. And then yeah, I just wanted to share it with others, I guess— So various and sundry things happened, and I basically found myself getting accepted to a four-year degree program over the UK.”

- Erika Guthrie Galentin 🌸

At the beginning of each month, an accountability quest is posted in one of the three main rooms in HPX. These quests are heralded by a question pertaining to the pillar of the month and invite members to share insights and inspiration regarding the very complex journey of being a clinical herbalist.

If this kind of community support sounds like it could benefit you and your practice, check out the link in my bio for more about HPX! 💕

Each month in the Herbal Practice Connexion is accompanied by a theme, or what Erika refers to as a ‘Pillar of Clinical Herbal Practice’. These themes, like professionalism, trust, and ethics, provide HPX members an opportunity to explore their identities and their values as clinicians and entrepreneurs. These types of reflections are critical for the health and wellbeing of the practitioner, their practice and business, and the profession at large.

At the beginning of each month, an accountability quest is posted in one of the three main rooms in HPX. These quests are heralded by a question pertaining to the pillar of the month and invite members to share insights and inspiration regarding the very complex journey of being a clinical herbalist. One critical aspect of self-reflection in herbal practice is about learning how to identify our triggers as practitioners and the emotional regulation required to navigate them safety while in consultation.

In order to be safe, ethical, and accountable practitioners, we have to be aware of when we are projecting our own healing journey onto our clients.

For you, what is self-reflection all about? 🌸

My clinical education, experience, and knowledge are based in both science and tradition. Much of my herbal and clinical rationale is derived from the past and present Physiomedical philosophy, with utmost faith placed upon vix medicatrix naturae, or the healing power of nature.

The Herbal Practice Connexion, or HPX, is a network. Within this network there are three main spaces, or rooms where all the action will be happening…The Consultation Room, The Apothecary, and the Office & Marketing Garden. These three rooms represent the professional facets of our work as clinical herbalists.

Within each of these rooms, you will find an events calendar which thematically offers exclusive opportunities to learn about new topics by participating in specialty trainings, live monthly meetups (what I am calling Pep Talks), online workshops and seminars with special guests, and even case review sessions with your host Erika Galentin MNIMH RH.

Each of these rooms also has its own roundtable feed that functions much like the social media feeds we are all familiar with…consider the roundtable a discussion forum where you can collaborate with colleagues, share resources, seek feedback, and ask questions.

We're currently running a *free 2-week trial* for HPX! Join today for access to these unique spaces, vast living resource libraries, and so much more! Check out the 🔗 in my bio for additional info.

August is all about reflective practice, or the capacity to observe our thoughts, feelings, and actions in our clinical work and our business practices through the lens of non-judgement, vulnerability, and the desire to evolve.

For you, what is reflective practice all about? 🌼

As a profession, herbalism can’t easily be put into a single cultural box as there are many different traditions of herbalism across space and time that have informed its practice.

So ‘the genius of a people’, or the ethos of clinical herbal practice, is likely as diasporic as its multi-faceted cultural origins and traditions.

It can be difficult to know precisely where one’s moral compass should lie when the terrain is so unwaveringly diverse.

Each month the Herbal Practice Connexion (HPX) is guided by a theme - one of the 12 pillars of clinical herbal practice. These include:

1) Vision
2) Confidence
3) Trust
4) Integrity
5) Professionalism
6) Ethics
7) Transparency
8) Safety
9) Accountability
10) Reliability
11) Patience
12) Collaboration.

Each of these themes represent an opportunity for clinical herbalists to gather and share their thoughts and ideas surrounding how each pillar of herbal practice shows up in their clinical and business practices. We also share and discuss how these pillars influence our personal and professional relationships with our clients, our colleagues, and other health and wellness professionals.

The conversations we are having surrounding these pillars of herbal practice are as important now as they have ever been. Rooted in our values as herbalists and entrepreneurs, these pillars can be a guiding light when our professional foundations are being shaken off center and we are feeling lost in the dark.

We hope you will consider chiming in on the conversation. In gratitude for your consideration in joining our community space, you will receive 2 weeks free access to the entire network, its forums, live events, and expanding resource libraries.

I'm always excited to answer questions about HPX membership, what it entails, and the transformation you will experience on your clinical path as a result of your membership (clarity, confidence, and community). Please reach out here with questions or drop some love in the comments and I'll DM you more info...or check out the 🔗 in my bio.
