Each month the Herbal Practice Connexion (HPX) is guided by a theme - one of the 12 pillars of clinical herbal practice. These include:

1) Vision
2) Confidence
3) Trust
4) Integrity
5) Professionalism
6) Ethics
7) Transparency
8) Safety
9) Accountability
10) Reliability
11) Patience
12) Collaboration.

Each of these themes represent an opportunity for clinical herbalists to gather and share their thoughts and ideas surrounding how each pillar of herbal practice shows up in their clinical and business practices. We also share and discuss how these pillars influence our personal and professional relationships with our clients, our colleagues, and other health and wellness professionals.

The conversations we are having surrounding these pillars of herbal practice are as important now as they have ever been. Rooted in our values as herbalists and entrepreneurs, these pillars can be a guiding light when our professional foundations are being shaken off center and we are feeling lost in the dark.

Integrity is a key subject of exploration for me
at all levels of my ‘beingness’ - as a daughter, a friend, a parent, a community member, a citizen, a colleague, an entrepreneur, and a practitioner of herbalism.

Integrity goes beyond simply maintaining my moral and ethical values - I have also come to recognize integrity as a benevolent force that holds my wholeness together, especially at times when I truly believe I am at risk of being torn asunder.

The journey we take as herbalists into clinical practice is complex, arduous, and filled with its own special challenges and roadblocks. Sustaining and growing our clinical practices can be equally as challenging.

The Herbal Practice Connexion or HPX was conceived and born with the sole heart-path mission of fostering a community space for clinical herbalists seeking resources and support to build and grow their clinical herbal practice. We will be gathering to share inspiration and practical experience, workshop challenges, and celebrate wins through monthly meetups, Q & A sessions, and roundtable discussions. We will also be gathering to hone our clinical, business, and marketing skills with exclusive specialty trainings, monthly accountability quests, study groups, and mentorship opportunities...all the while cultivating nurturing habits surrounding rest, reflection, and self-empathy.

My clinical education, experience, and knowledge are based in both science and tradition. Much of my herbal and clinical rationale is derived from the past and present Physiomedical philosophy, with utmost faith placed upon vix medicatrix naturae, or the healing power of nature.

I see the human body as possessing a vital integrity and intelligence with inherent integrative, reconstructive, and resistive, tendencies.

I do not see it as a broken-down machine, lacking the savvy for self-repair; given the right set of circumstances, the right nutriment and encouragement, the human body, your body, is capable of amazing things.

Integrity can be fined as the quality of being honest and maintaining strong moral & ethical values. Integrity can also be defined as ‘being whole’ or ‘undivided’.

When it comes to our work as clinical herbalists, both of these definitions - the quality of maintaining our values but also the state of being whole or undivided - describe what it means to be a practicing herbalist, a colleague, and an entrepreneur.
