Families, seniors, and neighbors of every age have supported SHAC with their time, their skills, and their financial donations, year after year. That support has been extraordinary, and it has also never quite been enough to meet the full need. We are a small nonprofit doing the work of a much larger institution, serving residents from early childhood through their senior years, and every dollar is stretched.

That strain has become especially visible in our building itself. Utility costs in our area have climbed sharply, and we have worked hard to keep pace: we invested in modernizing our heating and cooling systems to run as efficiently as possible. But that investment is being undermined every month by the building's original doors and windows, which are single pane, poorly sealed, and actively leaking the heated and cooled air we are now paying more than ever to produce. In plain terms, we are losing money to our own walls. Replacing these doors and windows is not a cosmetic upgrade; it is the missing piece that would let our efficiency investment actually pay off, and it would meaningfully lower our operating costs for years to come.

This is the purpose of our current capital campaign.
