✨ Staff Spotlight ✨

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Olivia, BCBA & LBA! 💙

Olivia began her journey in ABA in 2018 as a Registered Behavior Technician after completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Occupational Therapy. Her passion for helping children grow and gain independence quickly led her to pursue both her BCaBA and BCBA certifications.

Over the years, Olivia has worked with children ages 2-9 across clinic, school, and community settings. She loves that ABA is never “one size fits all” and believes every learner deserves individualized support based on their unique strengths and needs. 🌟

One of Olivia’s favorite parts of her career is collaborating with caregivers and building meaningful relationships with families along the way. She believes that progress happens best when everyone works together — because “it takes a village” applies to behavior change and everyday life alike. 🤝

☀️🍧 Popsicle Fridays Are Here! 🍧☀️

Summer temperatures are rising, so we're helping our clients and staff stay cool with a special treat!

Every Friday in June, we'll be providing popsicles for our clients and team members to enjoy as we beat the Louisiana heat together. It's a simple way to add a little extra fun to the summer season and celebrate all the hard work happening at Ascent each day.

We can't wait to make sweet memories, share some smiles, and cool off with a refreshing treat every Friday this month!

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Closure Notice 🇺🇸

Ascent Behavior Therapy Center will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th with normal business hours.

We take this time to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 💙❤️

Planning Ahead for Summer Trips & Special Events ☀️✈️

Family vacations and summer events can be exciting—but for children with special needs, changes in routine and new environments can sometimes feel overwhelming. A little preparation can go a long way in helping your child feel comfortable, confident, and ready to enjoy the experience!

Here are a few ways to plan ahead for success:

🌟 Preview the Experience
Talk about where you’re going and what to expect. Use pictures, videos, or simple descriptions to help your child become familiar with new places, people, or activities.

🧳 Pack with Purpose
Bring along preferred items like favorite toys, snacks, comfort items, or sensory tools. Having familiar things nearby can provide reassurance in new environments.

🕒 Keep a Flexible Routine
While schedules may change, try to maintain small pieces of your child’s normal routine (like mealtimes or bedtime rituals) to create a sense of consistency.

🧠 Prepare for Transitions
Give advance notice before changes in activities and use visuals or timers when possible. Practicing transitions ahead of time can also be helpful.

💛 Plan for Breaks
Build in downtime to rest and recharge. Quiet breaks can help prevent overstimulation and keep the experience positive for everyone.

With a little planning and flexibility, summer adventures can be enjoyable and meaningful for the whole family!

We’re excited to highlight Candice, one of our dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians! With over a decade of experience as a CNA and the past two years in ABA, Candice brings both compassion and hands-on expertise to our team.
