Five years. 🤍
Somewhere Over the Spectrum started as much creation does. With a dream and a vision of what could be. With a belief that we could create something special for children and families, and a place where the people doing this work could feel that they were part of something special, too.
Five years later, it has become more than we could have imagined.
Building it has asked more of us than we ever could have anticipated. It has been relentless at times. Exhausting. Beautiful. Humbling. There have been challenges we never saw coming and moments that have reminded us exactly why we started.
As a family, we have poured so much of ourselves into this place. We have protected it, worried about it, celebrated it, and continued to believe in it through every season. There is an incredible responsibility that comes with caring for something you love this deeply, to help it grow while holding tightly to the reason it was created in the first place.
Somewhere Over the Spectrum is our child.
She makes us proud every day. We want her to grow, to explore new parts of herself, and to become bigger and stronger than what we first imagined for her. We want her to be independent, but to always remember her roots, the reason she was born. We want to protect her integrity and the heart of what has made her her from the very beginning.
And while she may have started with us, she has never grown because of us alone.
She has grown because of every person who has believed in what we are building. Because of the families who have trusted us with the people they love most. Because of the children who have allowed us to become part of their lives. Because of every person who has walked through our doors and chosen to pour a piece of themselves into this place. And because of a community that has continued to embrace us, support us, challenge us, and grow alongside us.
There is something incredibly special about looking around five years later and realizing that what began with a few people and a shared dream now belongs, in some small way, to so many.
We are stronger together. We always have been.
And five years later, the heart is still here.
The intention. The care. The belief that children deserve a place that sees all of who they are. The commitment to our families. The love for the people who walk through our doors every day. And the responsibility we feel to protect the integrity of what Somewhere Over the Spectrum was created to be.
Amazed every day by what she’s become. Excited for who she’ll be in another five years. A little scared by how fast it all goes. And blessed to witness all of the beauty along the way.
Five years of Somewhere Over the Spectrum.
Five years of dreaming, fighting, learning, growing, laughing, crying, celebrating, and believing.
Five years of all of you.
We are just so incredibly grateful to be here. 🤍
With love,
Alyssa, Courtney & Christina
