Elizabeth Taylor established The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF) in 1991 to raise funds and awareness to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS, and to provide assistance for those living with the virus. With its focus on direct care and prevention education, ETAF funds AIDS organizations throughout the world, providing support services to populations most in need. The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundat

ion (1) supports organizations delivering direct care and services to people living with HIV/AIDS, and (2) supports organizations that provide education to the public regarding the AIDS virus and the prevention of AIDS. ETAF supports existing organizations and entities that have exhibited integrity in managing their operations along with the knowledge and ability to expediently provide services or achieve other designated goals.

This Pride Month, we’d like to highlight the importance of HIV testing and s*xual health screenings. By staying proactive with testing and preventative measures like PrEP, we can lower the risk of HIV and STI transmissions.

National HIV Testing Day is approaching on June 27th.

When talking about those impacted by HIV, we must remember the aging population living with it.

Today, on HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day, we’re doing just that by actively calling out the struggles that come with HIV and the immense strength it takes to overcome the obstacles that arise when aging with the disease.

We must continue to protect this population through ongoing advocacy and proper care.

Unfortunately, stories like Lashanda are not uncommon. Despite never transmitting the virus and fully disclosing her status, Lashanda was put on the s*x offender registry just for being HIV positive.

Thousands of Americans nationwide are still facing these same criminalization laws, and like Nashville Cares, we’re working to decriminalize HIV and protect those who are unjustly prosecuted.

Today, we’d like to extend a special thank you to the volunteers, advocates, healthcare professionals, and researchers for their endless efforts in developing an HIV vaccine.

Scientific advancements have made it possible for HIV to no longer be a global health crisis, but HIV continues to be an ongoing issue. Having a HIV vaccine would result in lower rates of the disease being transmitted, but federal cuts have made it difficult to progress in its research.

As we recognize HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, we encourage you to stay informed and do what you can to ensure that this life-changing research can continue.
