Art can provide a way to engage Neuroplasticity.
I talk about brain plasticity often.
Rewiring your brain. It’s in our name!
If you remember brain plasticity, or neuroplasticity, is the brain's ability to reorganize, change, and adapt its structure and connections. It’s its ability reorganize itself by forming new neuro connections. Partaking in creative activities as such is stimulating the brains regions. Your motor skills, cognitive processes, and emotional regulation are all at work with you therefore helping the brain form new connections.
Motor function.
Memory/cognition.
Emotional regulation.
Improving quality of life.
Improving quality of life.
Improving quality of life.
That’s what we are all seeking.
By creating a therapeutic outlet, art therapy does play its role in helping to assist people with a brain injury in adjusting to living with our new, now altered, abilities.
Our new normal. I’m sure many of you have heard that by now.
THANK YOU KORI for bringing in the activity and explaining the science behind it! I can’t remember exactly the type of painting we were doing but I think we all enjoyed it!
