The Michigan Lupus Foundation is pleased to announce Michael Lang of Grand Rapids has been appointed as Chair of its Board of Directors. Lang’s connection to the foundation is deeply personal. “I got involved because my twin sister was diagnosed with lupus at 14 years old,” he said. “Years later, I still didn’t fully understand lupus, even with my sister having it. After she experienced a health setback, I realized it was time to get involved and stop sitting on the sidelines.”

The Michigan Lupus Foundation urges Senator Mary Cavanagh to add SB 914 to tomorrow’s Michigan Senate Insurance Committee agenda. This bill protects access to vital medications for people living with lupus and helps eliminate harmful financial barriers created by copay accumulator programs, which can leave lupus patients paying thousands of dollars out of pocket for life-saving treatments. Michigan patients need action now.

T-cell engagers are a new type of immunotherapy designed to redirect the body's own immune system to target harmful cells. T-cell engagers may offer a less intensive, more accessible alternative to CAR-T therapy while still providing meaningful disease control. A T-cell engager temporarily brings a patient's existing T cells into contact with B cells by binding them together and so the T cell can destroy the B cell.

Researchers are studying CLN-978 in a Phase 1 clinical trial for people with moderate to severe lupus who have not responded adequately to at least two previous treatment options. We want to recognize and sincerely thank Moe's Warriors for their incredible fundraising efforts in support of the Michigan Lupus Foundation! During Lupus Awareness Month, Monique Kusky hosted two events and raised over $6,285 in support the foundation’s financial aid program. Donations make a world of difference in our fight against lupus and we couldn't do it without the help and generosity of the community. THANK YOU, MOE! 💜
