🚤🩵 Another unforgettable day on the water!

Thanks to the incredible boating community of Southeast Michigan, our 6th Annual Fun Run raised approximately $295,000, bringing the total amount raised over six years to $1.2 million to support individuals and families living with Parkinson’s across Michigan!

For six years, this event has brought together boaters, sponsors, volunteers, donors, and community partners in support of a shared mission: ensuring no one faces Parkinson’s alone. Every dollar raised helps fund exercise programs, educational opportunities, support groups, respite care, and other vital resources offered by the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.

This year, we were especially honored to welcome Mary Floore as our morning guest speaker. The Fun Run was created by Mary's family in honor of her journey with Parkinson’s, making her presence and words particularly meaningful. We are grateful that she shared her story, strength, and inspiration with everyone who attended.

We are also grateful to The Old Club, Brown's Bar, North Channel Yacht Club, Cabana Blue, and all of our volunteers, participants, and supporters who helped make this event such a success.

Thank you for six incredible years of impact, generosity, and community. We look forward to seeing you on the water again next year!

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible:

šŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļø Have you noticed your arms don’t swing as much when you walk?

Reduced arm swing is a common change that can happen with Parkinson’s, but the good news is that specific exercises can help encourage bigger, more natural movement patterns.

In this quick tip, Grand Rapids PWR! Moves Instructor Maggie Buteyn demonstrates simple exercises designed to improve arm movement, posture, and walking mechanics.

Give them a try and let us know what you think!

Today, we take time to reflect and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice continue to leave a lasting impact on generations to come.

We also want to recognize the veterans in our Parkinson’s community. Thank you for your service, your strength, and the experiences you bring to our community every day.

As we spend time with family and loved ones this weekend, we remember those whose sacrifices made that time possible.

From all of us at Michigan Parkinson Foundation, we wish you a meaningful and peaceful Memorial Day.

Big news for the Macomb County Parkinson’s community! šŸ’Ŗ

We recently expanded our Parkinson’s exercise programming in Macomb Township at the Macomb Twp Recreation Center with new classes designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s. From movement and strength to speech and boxing-inspired classes, these programs are focused on helping individuals stay active, connected, and empowered.

Classes are led by trained instructors who understand the unique needs of the Parkinson’s community, and all ability levels are welcome.

Take a few minutes today to breathe, move, and reset. 😌🩵

Coach Corrina from our Grand Rapids PWR! Moves class is sharing a simple at-home breathing and movement exercise designed for people living with Parkinson’s. These breathing practices can help:

• Improve respiratory strength
• Support voice and speech
• Enhance posture and stability
• Reduce stress and anxiety

Small, intentional movements and breathing exercises can make a big impact in everyday life. Give it a try and move with us from home!
