Our hearts are full after an incredible weekend at the Traverse City Parkinson Hero Walk! 💙

Together, we have raised an amazing $81,526, surpassing our $60,000 goal! We are truly blown away by the generosity of this community and grateful to every person who helped make this possible.

📣 We have some big news: MPF is moving!

If you haven’t yet heard, this September, the Michigan Parkinson Foundation will move our headquarters into a new dedicated suite inside the Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness in Farmington Hills.

MPF and the Kirk Gibson Foundation will share a home and a strategic partnership at the center, yet we remain separate, independent organizations. MPF will continue to have our own staff, leadership, programs and mission, and we’ll continue serving Michigan’s Parkinson’s community statewide.

Our new office will open to the public on September 8. We also hope you’ll join us for a Community Open House on October 6. More details are coming soon!

Try these simple movements demonstrated by Deb Colling to build strength and support independence. Remember to exercise near a sturdy surface and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you!

🌺 What an incredible two days in Mt. Pleasant!

This week, over 100 MPF community leaders came together for our annual Leadership Summit, including support group facilitators, mentors, exercise instructors, and community educators from across Michigan.

With a fun luau theme, the summit was filled with connection, education, and inspiration as we shared ideas, strengthened relationships, and prepared to continue serving Michigan’s Parkinson’s community.

We are so grateful for each of these dedicated leaders and the compassion, knowledge, and energy they bring to communities throughout our state. A special thank-you to our generous sponsors for helping make this meaningful event possible!

This is an important conversation for Michigan.

A new MLive.com article explores where Michigan stands on paraquat, a widely used herbicide that has been linked in numerous studies to an increased risk of Parkinson's disease. Vermont recently became the first state to ban paraquat, and here in Michigan, State Rep. Julie Rogers (Kalamazoo) introduced legislation in June that would phase out the sale and use of paraquat over the next two years.

We're proud to see Michigan Parkinson Foundation CEO Kristin Rossi included in this important story, helping bring awareness to an issue that matters to the Parkinson's community.
