I had proof...
I lost weight while eating carbohydrates in 2017, then removed them again when coaching ended.
Why would I go back to keto after seeing that carbs and weight loss could coexist?
Fear can survive evidence.
For years, I followed doctors and health experts who taught that bread would raise insulin, prevent fat burning, and cause weight gain.
I drove hundreds of miles to keto conferences, bought the books, and followed the rules.
When a coach added carbs to my plan in 2017, I was desperate to feel better in my skin but terrified of what might happen.
I ate them anyway.
The scale moved, my energy improved, and I felt successful.
Yet when our work ended, the old rules still felt safer than trusting myself around the foods I wanted.
I returned to restriction because the plan had changed my food, but it had not fully changed my belief.
That is why saying, “Carbs are fine,” is rarely enough when she still fears gaining everything back.
In 2022, I intentionally brought carbohydrates back for good.
I began paying attention to calories, portions, meal structure, hunger, energy, cravings, and the patterns I could continue.
I am maintaining my lowest weight while eating carbs with more energy.
