Tomorrow’s forecast: 100% chance of Downtown Calhoun Farmers Market🌂

Open tomorrow from 8:00AM – 12:00PM with fresh produce, local vendors, handmade goodies, and coffee on site strong enough to turn you into a morning person.

Our produce vendors have had a steady supply of sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches, squash, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, fresh herbs and SO much more coming through the market lately!

Additional Ag vendors have your beef, eggs, honey, fresh flowers and homemade bread ready for purchase!

A little reminder that muddy streets and rainy days are nothing new for Downtown Calhoun. 🌧️🐴

Long before paved roads and parking spaces, horses and wagons pushed through streets thick with mud as downtown buzzed with daily commerce and community life. Some things change… and some things — like a rainy week in Georgia — never really do.

Here’s a fun glimpse into downtown’s past as we weather another stretch of rainy days together.

We’re keeping a close eye on the weather, but as always, we’re a rain-or-shine market! ☀️☔️

This past Saturday, we enjoyed three incredible and busy hours before severe weather and lightning required us to officially close the market for everyone’s safety. Once the storm moved through, several vendors who remained on-site welcomed a strong wave of customers and enjoyed additional sales throughout the day.

As many of you know, the forecast has been especially unpredictable lately. We’ve seen days with a 95% chance of rain turn into just a quick 30-minute shower followed by beautiful sunshine for the rest of the afternoon.

With that in mind, we’re moving forward with tomorrow’s market and look forward to seeing our amazing community come together once again. We’ll continue monitoring conditions closely and will always prioritize the safety of our vendors, shoppers, and staff.

Historically, bells have marked the beginning of market day and the start of local commerce in communities around the world. Tomorrow, our opening bell celebrates the farmers, makers, and small businesses that continue that tradition here in Historic Downtown Calhoun.

Tomorrow — Saturday, May 23 — we officially kick off a new season of the Downtown Calhoun Farmers Market with a new (and very old) tradition.

At 8:00 AM, Mayor Palmer will ring the market bell to officially open the day.

For generations, bells signaled the start of market day in town centers — calling farmers, merchants, and neighbors together in the heart of the community. As we begin another season in our historic downtown, we’re proud to carry that tradition forward.

Here’s to local agriculture, local business, and another season of community at the market. 🌿🔔
