In medical Qigong we always move from the feet through the rest of the body. When you mindfully roll your foot from the heel to the center and up to your toes, you are also gently sending energy to your three main energy centers, known as Dantian’s.
In the middle of your foot is the Acupuncture Kidney one point (Bubbling Springs). Connecting this exact center point to the earth allows fresh energy to flow right up into your entire body to keep you feeling revitalized.
This deep connection to the ground is wonderfully restorative, but it also reminds us to be mindful of our physical environment and avoid walking barefoot on cold surfaces to protect that vital point.

How connected are you to your feet each day?

Mastering energy flow in Qigong is all about engaging your whole body while making sure you are staying relaxed and open.
It’s just like putting a kink in a hose, water isn’t go to flow freely. In our body, our energy can’t flow easily against the tension we carry. It’s so easy to accidentally clutch the ground with our toes or let our knees collapse inward, but learning how to let go of tension, while staying mindfully aligned changes the whole experience.

Let me know in the comments if this helps you understand more about Qigong and your energy flow?

Hi friends, if your lower back has been feeling a little tight or sore lately, I have a very comforting practice to share with you today. I was doing a lot of gardening last week and felt a bit of a pull in my back, and love to use one of my favorite gentle Qigong practices for the lower back.
You can simply use your hands to rub along your sacrum and the sides of your waist to bring some fresh energy and warmth to the area. It is so helpful to stay grounded through your feet and allow your whole body to just drop and relax while making sure your knees stay unlocked.
When we combine this soft movement with deep breathing, we are gently inviting our bodies to heal naturally from the inside out.

I truly hope this brings a lovely sense of ease and relaxation to your day.

Hi friends, in Qigong it’s all about the connection through our feet. A common practice is to first notice how you’re connecting through feet during your day.
One practice is to take very slow steps while making sure you feel your weight shift from your heel to the center of your foot and then through the ball and your toes. Is it even? Is it soft? Is it fluid?
By mindfully rolling your step from the heel through the center of the foot and all the way to your toes, you are activating the entire bottom of your foot. Moving this slowly gives your brain the chance to process every point of contact your foot makes with the ground.
If you feel a little bit out of balance at first or notice yourself gripping the floor, just know that it is completely normal and your posture will naturally improve the more you allow your foot to fully connect with the ground.

I’d love to know how your feet feel after connecting a bit more, let me know.

When I work with clients and students, I find it’s common to think we need to aggressively stretch or work out our aches and pains to find any relief.
However, Qigong our goal is always to create flow within the body and release stagnation and tension.
Today I’m sharing a gentle Qigong practice with you that invites us to do the exact opposite by simply pausing and softening the areas that hurt.
When you send your breath and your natural energy into a tense spot, it gently encourages your body to heal itself from the inside out.
It is such a comforting and peaceful way to care for yourself when you are feeling physically overwhelmed or tight.

I really hope you can find a quiet moment today to just breathe and let your body soften.

Hi friends, passing along a little mindful movement tip today.
In Qigong the feet are our connection to the earth and also the activation areas for the movement through the rest of our body. We spend so much of our time walking around on our feet but we rarely give them the dedicated attention they truly deserve.
If you take a quiet moment to sit or stand and simply stretch your toes while planting your feet into the floor, it can bring such a lovely sense of calm to your whole body.
There is a special tendon on the inner side of your foot that is deeply connected to your sleep quality and your internal energy.
Massaging or gently stretching that spot with a continuous flowing motion can be deeply relaxing and restorative.

Make sure you are not just tensing up and holding a tight pose, but rather letting your body open and release naturally.
Have an amazing and free flowing day!

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a beautiful day so far. I wanted to share a quick movement tip with you all today, especially if you have been doing a lot of new exercises that really work your legs. It is incredibly helpful to elongate and keep the front of your body open to support all that hard work. Please make sure you are taking deep breaths as you do this. One thing to watch out for when you bring your leg back is gripping your glutes. So many of us hold tension right there without realizing it, and we really want to focus on opening up that space instead. Just take it nice and slow, and remember to shake it out before moving to the other side. I would love to hear if you try this out at home.

I want to invite you to stop where you are and take a look at how you are using your energy. We are always trying to do more, but we forget to ask if we are actually replenishing what we give. When you run out of energy to show up, it catches up with your health, your relationships, and your creativity. Learning new tools to support yourself changes everything about how you move through the world. Let me know in the comments how you recharge your energy.

I wanted to share this thought with you because I know how many of you are the rocks for your families and your workplaces. You work hard and you show up for everyone, but sometimes that high performer lifestyle comes with a hidden cost. I see this all the time, and I want to remind you that sleep is not always enough to fix the kind of exhaustion that comes from deep burnout. If you feel like you are running on empty even after a long nap, it might be time to look at how you are replenishing your energy throughout the day. You cannot keep pouring from an empty cup no matter how much of a perfectionist you are.

I have been thinking a lot about how our physical and emotional states impact our daily lives. In my work, I see energy management as an essential tool for keeping our energetic systems expansive and healthy. It is not just about physical stamina, but about looking at what our physical body, mind, and spirit require to thrive. Understanding when to release energy and when to ground yourself can bring a wonderful sense of balance to how we show up in our work and personal lives. I encourage you to check in with your system today and give yourself the specific type of restoration you need.
