This is, unfortunately, a hard truth I find myself explaining to many parents. While it is good that the pump industry is looking for ways to make pumping easier, more accessible, and to make access to human milk fit in with our modern lives, the fact is we aren't quite there yet. It is awful for parents who get these pumps from their insurance and then find themselves pump-dependent and now they need to buy a different pump to keep their supply up, or, build back a supply when they discover this pump has not been effectively emptying them.

If you are pregnant and need some advice about which pump to get, please reach out to a lactation consultant - an IBCLC - so that you can make a fully informed decision based on the evidence, and NOT a pump manufacturer's excellent marketing.
