Cooking, learning, and having fun at ASF! 🧑‍🍳💙

Our kiddos had a blast making rainbow grilled cheese while following a visual instruction card step-by-step with support from their RBTs!

Cooking activities are a great way to turn everyday routines into meaningful learning opportunities. They can help children practice following directions, sequencing, and visual supports. These activities also helps build fine motor skills, communication, independence, and functional life skill, all while having fun!

And the best part? You can try it at home, too! 🙌 Create a simple visual recipe with pictures or short steps and let your child participate at their own pace. Even small steps, like gathering ingredients, can be opportunities to practice new skills.

Life lately at ASF ✨

Our days are filled with opportunities to learn, practice, play, and build new skills! From brushing teeth and completing small chores to practicing writing, reading, and developing independence, our kiddos are working on meaningful activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional skills.

We’re also exploring through sensory play, water activities, sensory bins, and sensory art, while practicing social skills, communication, peer interaction, turn-taking, sharing, and play skills. 🫧🎨📚

Through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), these everyday activities can become meaningful learning opportunities where we work on skill acquisition, independence, functional communication, social-emotional development, fine motor skills, following directions, task completion, and generalizing skills across environments.

And of course… there’s always plenty of fun, positive reinforcement, and lots of smiles along the way! 💙
