Think of your skin like soil. You wouldn't just water the surface and expect it to thrive. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

Your daily skincare routine, the cleansing, the moisturising, the SPF, that's surface level care. And it matters. But it's only treating the top layer.

Every four to six weeks your skin needs something that goes deeper. A facial. A chemical peel. Microneedling. A treatment that reaches the dermal layer, where your collagen lives, where your blood vessels are, where the real renewal happens.

That's the layer that determines how your skin ages. And it needs to be fed, not just washed.

The women who are consistently glowing aren't just using better products. They're treating their skin the way you'd treat good soil, regularly, intentionally, and at the right depth.

Things that should not be controversial in primary care. And yet here we are. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

1. Prevention is just as important as treatment. We built an entire system around waiting for something to go wrong. That needs to change.
2. 15 minutes is not enough. You cannot take a full history, review labs, address symptoms, and actually listen to a patient in 15 minutes. It is not possible.
3. A basic blood panel is not a full blood panel. A CBC tells you if something is catastrophically wrong. It does not tell you if your ferritin is optimal, your insulin is building toward resistance, or your thyroid is converting properly.
4. More testing isn't always the answer. The right test at the right time is. Ordering everything tells you nothing useful. Ordering the right things tells you everything.
5. Mental health and physical health are not separate conversations. Low ferritin. Dysregulated cortisol. Low progesterone. All of them produce symptoms that look like anxiety, depression, and burnout. None of them are a mental health diagnosis. All of them show up on labs.

This is what medicine looks like when it's done properly. This is Sepia. 🀍

5 labs that are rarely ordered, and are often the difference between "your results are normal" and actually understanding what is driving your symptoms. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

Your annual bloodwork is a starting point, not a complete picture. And if nobody has ever run these five on you, there are gaps in what we know about your health.

Your haemoglobin can look completely normal while your iron stores are already running low. That's why a basic blood count isn't enough. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

If you're experiencing any of these, especially more than two or three, it's time to ask for a full iron panel. Ferritin, serum iron, TIBC. Not just the basics.

Iron deficiency is one of the most commonly missed reasons women feel exhausted, foggy, and off. And it is entirely fixable.

She was told she was depressed. She was put on medication. And she still didn't feel right. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

Because nobody had ever checked her hormones.

At 44, with estradiol at 18 and testosterone at 12, her body was telling a completely different story to the one she'd been given. And once we addressed the root cause, everything changed.

This is what whole-person medicine looks like. This is Sepia.

5 blood tests I'd recommend for every ambitious woman who keeps being told she's "just stressed." πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

Because fatigue, brain fog, hair loss, and mood swings are not personality traits. They are symptoms. And they deserve a real answer.

1. Full Iron Panel
Not just haemoglobin, ferritin, serum iron, and TIBC. Iron deficiency is one of the most commonly missed reasons women feel exhausted, and a basic blood count won't catch it.

2. Vitamin D
Low vitamin D affects your mood, your immunity, your energy, and your bone health. It is incredibly common and incredibly overlooked.

3. Thyroid Panel (TSH, T3, T4)
Your thyroid controls your metabolism, your energy, your mental clarity, and your weight. If things have felt persistently off, this needs to be checked, not just TSH alone.

4. Fasting Glucose & HbA1c
Blood sugar imbalances show up as fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, and difficulty losing weight. Things that are easy to dismiss as stress. They're not.

5. Full Hormone Panel
Oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA. From your late 30s onwards, these shift significantly. Knowing your baseline now means you can act early, not after years of wondering what's wrong.

Your labs are telling a story. Let's find out what it says. 🀍

Vaginal dryness is one of the most common complaints I hear and one of the most under-addressed. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

Here's what most women aren't told: it's almost always a hormone issue.

Not a hygiene issue. Not an age issue. A hormone issue. And that means it's treatable.

Hormone replacement therapy has come a long way, and one of the most effective options right now is pellets. We place a small pellet in the fatty tissue of your buttock and it releases hormones consistently for four months.

That's it. One appointment, four months of results.

No daily pills, no patches to remember. Just steady, balanced hormones doing what they're supposed to do.

Men go through menopause too. We just don't talk about it…

It's called andropause. And just like perimenopause in women, it doesn't announce itself, it creeps up slowly through your 40s and 50s through fatigue, mood shifts, weight changes, low motivation, disrupted sleep.

The men who handle it best? They started tracking in their 20s and 30s.

Mood. Sleep. Nutrition. Exercise. These are not just wellness buzzwords; they are your baseline. And when things start to shift, your doctor needs somewhere to start.

Hormone replacement therapy, vitamin optimisation, lifestyle adjustments, these are all on the table. But only if we know where you started.

Don't wait until you feel it hitting you. Start now. 🀍

From $14/hr at DTLR to $250k+ as a Board-Certified Family Physician. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ

Every single job taught me something. The hustle. The people skills. The discipline. None of it was wasted.

The path to where you're going rarely looks like what you expected. But you keep going anyway. 🀍

As a board-certified physician, there are some things I will not stop saying, no matter how uncomfortable they make people.

GLP-1s are changing lives. I have seen it firsthand. But the way they are being accessed and used right now? That is a conversation we need to have.

Subscription boxes. No lab monitoring. No muscle protection protocol. No hormonal assessment. Just a medication and a hope.

That is not medical supervision. And your health deserves better than that.

Swipe for every hill I will die on about weight loss and GLP-1s. Save this one. πŸ‘‰πŸ½πŸ€
