🚨 Whooping Cough (Pertussis) Is on the Rise—Protect Yourself and Your Family! 💙

Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can be especially dangerous for babies, young children, pregnant women, and older adults.

🤧 Know the Symptoms:

• Runny nose

• Mild fever

• Persistent cough that becomes severe

• Intense coughing fits that may cause vomiting or trouble breathing

• Babies may stop breathing without making the classic "whoop" sound

💉 The Best Protection? Vaccination.

The CDC recommends:

👶 DTaP for infants and children (5-dose series)

🧒 Tdap booster at ages 11–12

🤰 Tdap during every pregnancy (between 27–36 weeks) to help protect newborns

👨‍👩‍👧 Adults who have never received a Tdap booster should get vaccinated

🩺 If you've been exposed to someone with whooping cough, contact your healthcare provider right away. Early treatment with antibiotics can reduce the severity of illness and help prevent spreading it to others.
