I see women every day trying to lose weight the same way they did in their 20s and 30s: by cutting calories and eating less. Unfortunately, that approach often stops working after 40.

As our hormones and metabolism change, our strategy needs to change too. Prioritizing protein, building muscle through progressive strength training, managing stress, and supporting overall health become essential for lasting results.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution. A personalized approach can help you work with your body instead of against it.

✨ Ready to feel stronger, healthier, and more energized? Contact us today to learn how functional medicine can help you create a plan designed specifically for you.

Tap into calm.

Tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), is a simple practice that combines gentle tapping on acupressure points with mindful awareness. It can help reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and bring you back to the present moment.

When life feels overwhelming, take a pause, breathe deeply, and tap your way to greater balance and resilience. 💜

Tiny Vessels, Big Impact:
When we think about heart health, we often focus on the large arteries. But the smallest blood vessels, known as the microvasculature, play a critical role in delivering oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.

In women, hormonal changes, inflammation, stress, blood sugar imbalances, and aging can affect microvascular function, contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, headaches, and reduced exercise tolerance.

Supporting vascular health with regular movement, quality sleep, stress management, balanced nutrition, and anti-inflammatory habits can help improve circulation and overall well-being.

Remember: healthy aging starts with healthy blood flow, right down to the smallest vessels.

HRT is an amazing tool, but it's not a complete health strategy. Many women are told their symptoms are caused solely by declining hormones. While hormones absolutely matter, they are only one part of a much larger picture.

If you're still struggling despite being on HRT, it may be time to look deeper at insulin resistance, inflammation, gut health, nutrient status, stress, sleep, toxins, and metabolic health. The best outcomes happen when we combine symptom relief with root-cause medicine.

Does Stress Really "Steal" Your Progesterone?
You've probably heard the term "progesterone steal" used to explain why stress can lead to hormone imbalances. The truth?

✅ Stress absolutely can lower progesterone levels and disrupt your menstrual cycle. But the idea that your body literally "steals" progesterone to make cortisol isn't how hormone physiology actually works. Here's what's really happening:

Under stress, your brain prioritizes survival over reproduction. Stress hormones send signals that suppress communication between your brain and ovaries. As a result, ovulation may become less consistent, progesterone production can drop, and cycles may become irregular.

In other words, stress doesn't "steal" progesterone. Instead, it tells the body to temporarily put reproductive functions on the back burner.

Think of it this way: your body isn't running out of progesterone because it's being used to make cortisol. It's producing less progesterone because chronic stress is turning down the reproductive hormone signals altogether.

The takeaway: The end result of chronic stress is often lower progesterone, but the mechanism is more about hormone signaling and nervous system regulation than hormone "theft."

Supporting women with hormone balance means addressing not only nutrition and supplements, but also stress, sleep, nervous system health, and lifestyle factors.
