We Are Sharing Hope SC (SHSC) is the organ and tissue donation program for the state of South Carolina (except for Aiken and Edgefield counties). As the federally-designated organ procurement organization (OPO) for the state, SHSC is responsible for facilitating the gift of organ and tissue donation for transplantation and research. "Grace lived her life with fearless energy, laughter and a heart full of love. From the day she was born, until her passing in 2025, Grace was always in motion - adventurous, vibrant and unforgettable," shared Grace's mom, Karen.

"When Grace was getting her driver's permit, she asked me whether she should register as an organ donor. I told her that I was a registered donor because I believed that if anything bad ever happened to me, some good could still come from it through donation. After Grace tragically passed away following a drowning incident, I knew immediately that honoring her wishes through organ donation was the right decision.

Though our family was mourning an incredible loss, Grace's gifts gave other families the opportunity of more time, more memories and more life with the people they love. While we grieve her absence, we are grateful knowing her compassion and fearless spirit continue to live on through others."

"Lander Davis Jr., lovingly known as LD, was one of God's greatest gifts to our family," shared his mom, Christina. 💙

A devoted son, brother, uncle and friend, LD lived with extraordinary kindness and compassion. Whether comforting family members or mentoring friends in his online gaming community, he made people feel seen, valued and loved. His nieces and nephews were the light of his life, and "Uncle LD" never missed a chance to remind them how deeply he cared for them.

Through the decision to become an organ donor, LD's legacy continues to live on. Through his gifts, others have the opportunities he never had the chance to experience - to get married, raise children, chase dreams and create memories with the people they love. We are honored to share LD's story and the impact he made through his selfless gift of donation.

Yesterday’s Donor Remembrance Ceremony was a day of remembrance, gratitude and love.

Our Donor Family Services team poured their hearts into every detail, creating a beautiful space to honor our donor heroes from 2023-2025.

Families came together to share stories and memories, laughs and tears and find comfort through connection and community. We were honored to hear inspiring reflections from Cameron, husband of donor hero Toby, and two of Toby’s recipient families, Lisa and Tyila. Their stories are powerful reminders of the lasting legacies and meaningful connections the gift of organ, eye and tissue donation can create. We were also moved by a special performance by Unbound Dance Company, whose beautiful dance honored love, loss and healing.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special. Your presence and support continue to make a difference and strengthen our incredible community.
