Raising kids with neurological challenges is hard work. If you choose not to go the medication route for your child's ADHD, that is completely okay, but you have to make sure you have a solid plan in place.

You have to set schedules, create routines, and have discipline. You have to advocate for them. And as a parent, even when they're older, you still have to check them. They naturally avoid the hard stuff, so you have to stay involved—asking what work they're doing in school and checking in daily. It starts at home.

And remember, if you ever reach a point where home routines aren't quite enough, we offer integrative medication management and talk therapy to support your family.

When you have a child with ADHD, everything starts at home. If you've decided against medication, your structure, routines, and discipline are their safety net.

But you can't just set a routine and walk away. Because they tend to avoid hard things, you have to actively check what they’re doing in school, ask to see their work, and offer guidance. You have to advocate for them every step of the way.

You don't have to carry the weight alone, though. If you ever need professional backup, we offer integrative medication management and talk therapy services to help your child thrive.

Drop us a message or reach out through our website if you have questions or need support. Let's build a plan together.

Raising kids with neurological challenges can be difficult, but setting them up for success starts right at home.

If you choose the non-medication route for your child's ADHD, you still have to put in the work: ask questions, set schedules, create strong routines, and maintain discipline. Because they naturally shy away from the hard things, you have to stay actively involved, check their schoolwork, and fiercely advocate for them every step of the way.

Remember, you don't have to navigate it all alone. If you ever need professional guidance or want to explore integrative support options like talk therapy or medication management, we are here for you.

Serving families virtually across NC & SC. Virtual until October.

Accepts Insurance.

If you have uttered those words, or felt them deep in your chest, I want you to hear this: You are not failing. You are just using the wrong tools for a biological problem. 🧠

When chronic overwhelm, anxiety, or depression persist despite therapy, lifestyle changes, and sheer willpower, it's often because your neurobiology needs targeted care.

Taking medication isn't a sign of weakness or proof that you're "crazy." It is a valid, medical-grade tool to help bridge the gap so you can actually heal.

As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I am here to help you sort through the myths, look at the root cause, and find a plan that actually works for you.

💻 We are fully virtual in North Carolina and South Carolina and proudly accept insurance.

Between ages 12–14, kids are navigating massive changes, seeking validation, and building their self-worth. If they aren’t getting that encouragement and confidence at home, they will look for it elsewhere, and those outside influences aren’t always healthy.

Self-worth and confidence have to be taught and nurtured. As adults, we have to pour life into them first so they know how to stand tall. Our kids are our future, and they need us to be intentional!

Drop your thoughts below: how are you helping your pre-teen build confidence?
