Planning a Labor Day picnic? Keep it healthy AND safe!

Whether you’re heading to a cookout, the beach, or your own backyard, remember to keep perishable foods like meat, poultry, cheese, and salads cold at 40°F or below. After serving, refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours—or sooner when it’s especially hot outside.

🥗 Mix up the traditional cookout with fresh fruit, veggies, grilled chicken, hummus, and other healthy favorites.

Enjoy the long weekend, stay safe, and have a Happy Labor Day from Chesprocott Health District! ❤️🤍💙

September is National Preparedness Month! 🚨

Emergencies can happen at any time, and being prepared can make a big difference for you, your family, and your community.

This month, take a few simple steps to get ready:

✅ Make a Plan – Know how your household will communicate, where you will meet, and what you will do if you need to evacuate or shelter in place.

✅ Build or Check Your Emergency Kit – Include water, nonperishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, important documents, pet supplies, and other essentials.

✅ Know How You’ll Get Alerts – Make sure you can receive local emergency notifications and weather alerts.

✅ Think About Everyone in Your Household – Plan for children, older adults, people with disabilities or medical needs, and pets.

Preparing doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. Take one step today and expand gradually. Reach out to Chesprocott Health District for more details at [email protected].
