Summer may be winding down, but the memories are just getting started! 🌞 Envision Unlimited members who live in our residential homes recently enjoyed an unforgettable getaway at Norman B. Barr Camp in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.

Despite some rain, spirits stayed high as everyone fished, swam, roasted s’mores and sang campfire songs – creating moments they’ll cherish for years to come. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to the camp families and dedicated volunteers who made this adventure possible. Your support helps our members experience joy, independence and the true meaning of community. Here’s to living our best lives! 🧡

Play ball! ⚾ Earlier this week, 250 Envision Unlimited members and staff came together for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Night with the Chicago White Sox – an annual celebration of community and inclusion.

Families, disability service providers, Direct Support Professionals, advocates, community partners and supporters from across the Chicago area filled the stands, united in support of people with disabilities. ✨

Our member Cortney proudly delivered the game ball on the field. And to top it off, the White Sox clinched a thrilling victory against the Texas Rangers!

Thank you, White Sox, for championing inclusion and supporting people with disabilities. We can’t wait to return next year! 🧡

Looking for a meaningful way to spend your Friday night? TONIGHT, join us at Tangible Books for a unique art workshop with Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene. 🐦

Every year, more than 1 billion birds die after colliding with glass in the U.S., and our talented artists will be creating replicas of birds killed by window collisions in Chicago. This hands-on event is more than a chance to make art. It’s an opportunity to learn about solutions to prevent future bird collisions and make a real difference in our city. 👏

Don’t miss this fun evening of creativity, education and action! See you tonight! ✨

Disability Pride Month may be over, but our pride shines every day at Envision Unlimited. ✨

This year’s Disability Pride Parade was a true celebration of inclusion, teamwork and joy. Our members decorated our float and showed off their favorite sports jerseys for the “Game On” theme. 🏀 The energy was contagious!

“I was waving to people,” member Charles said. “I had lots of fun!”

Moments like these remind us why we support people with disabilities and mental health challenges. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, whose efforts made this another unforgettable day. 🧡

“For far too long, mental health has been treated differently than physical health.”

We couldn’t agree more with Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller, who inspired us at our recent “Healing Happens Here” event. 👏👏 Our second annual celebration brought together community leaders, advocates and neighbors to break down barriers and make mental health resources more accessible for all.

Together, we’re building a future where everyone’s wellbeing matters. ✨ Thank you to Commissioner Miller, the Chicago Defender and everyone else who joined us! Go Cubs, go! Wrigley Field just made history as the first major league ballpark to become a Certified Autism Center! 🤩

We're grateful to the Chicago Cubs for opening doors and creating dream job opportunities for our members. Thank you, Cubs, for championing inclusion and making a difference for people with disabilities. ❤️💙✨

Wrigley Field becomes MLB's first certified autism center

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced that Wrigley Field has been designated a Certified Autism Center™ by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), a first for a major league ballpark. To earn this designation, at least 80% of guest-facing staff were required to complete autism and sensory training to arm them with the knowledge, skills and best practices to welcome and assist autistic and sensory-sensitive fans. The Cubs’ Spring Training home, Sloan Park, was named a Certified Autism Center™ in 2020 with Mesa, Ariz., being the first Autism-Certified City.

“Creating the world’s best guest experience starts with understanding that fans experience the ballpark in different ways,” said Cubs Chief Operations Officer David Cromwell. “Our guest-facing staff now have additional tools to communicate with and support autistic and sensory-sensitive fans from the moment they arrive at Wrigley Field. We are proud to earn this certification and view it as an important step in our continued commitment to making Wrigley Field a friendly and inclusive environment for all.”
