Since June of 2020, Mental Health America’s Online Screening Program has seen a steady increase in the rate of frequent suicidal ideation in our screeners. Last year, over half of all youth depression screeners under 18 reported frequent suicidal ideation, compared to 48% of youth in 2024. This is the highest rate of youth suicidal ideation reported since MHA began measurement in 2014.
