🕷️ Tick Season Is Here – Protect Yourself & Your Family! 🌿
As the weather warms up, ticks become more active throughout Central New York. These tiny pests can carry diseases such as Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, and Powassan virus.
What to Watch For:
✔️ Ticks attached to the skin, especially after spending time outdoors
✔️ Bullseye rash (although not everyone develops one)
✔️ Fever or chills
✔️ Fatigue or unusual tiredness
✔️ Headache
✔️ Muscle or joint aches
✔️ Swollen lymph nodes
Tick Prevention Tips:
✅ Wear light-colored clothing to spot ticks more easily
✅ Use EPA-approved insect repellents
✅ Stay on cleared trails when hiking
✅ Check yourself, your children, and pets after outdoor activities
✅ Shower soon after coming indoors
Found a Tick?
Removing a tick quickly and correctly can reduce the risk of disease transmission. Avoid squeezing or twisting the tick, which can leave mouthparts behind.
