Donna Lauver recently joined The Health Collaborative's workforce team as Senior Manager of Workforce & Education Partnerships. We are thrilled to have her at the organization and caught up to learn more about her and her new role.

What are you currently working on that you are most excited about?
The Workforce Innovation team is working on HealthFORCE, Educator Professional Development programs, the Clermont County Navigate Program, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati events, and truly so much more! I love connecting, engaging, and collaborating through this work. Together, we're helping strengthen pathways to future healthcare careers.

Is there anything you are currently reading that you've been able to connect to our work?
Yes! The Decision Book: Fifty Models of Strategic Thinking by Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschäppeler. I'm a strategic thinker who is always looking for ways to grow initiatives with purpose, and I hope to bring those skills to THC.

Do you have a favorite part of your job so far?
I love working with students and families. Building those relationships has always been a meaningful part of my career, and I'm excited to continue that work every day. Throughout my profession, I've had opportunities to develop programs, build partnerships, and grow as a workforce development leader. Helping connect future healthcare professionals to meaningful career pathways is a natural fit for my passion.

We hear you are quite the traveler - tell us more about that and you!
I love traveling for adventure and cultural experiences. I've led more than 500 students on international experiences and will be leading an adult Christmas Market tour this November. Austria is my favorite destination, but wherever my family is, I'm happy to be there.

I'm also an avid gardener and sports fan. I'm married to my high school sweetheart of 37 years and have two children, two farm cats, a rescue dog, and the sweetest 1 year old grandson, Milo.

Supporting students as they discover their own path has always been important to me. Helping build the future healthcare workforce is a mission I'm proud to continue.

Most people never see the coordination that happens behind the scenes to keep our healthcare system prepared. Our Emergency Preparedness & Response (EPR) team works alongside hospitals, public health agencies, EMS, emergency management, and community partners to monitor incidents, share critical information, and support coordinated decision-making across the region.

Whether responding to emergencies, planning for large-scale events, or preparing for potential threats, this collaboration helps ensure healthcare resources remain available when our communities need them most. When you hear of emergency events in our community, know that our EPR team is always immediately notified by Hamilton County's Hospital net, where we stay on call behind the scenes to support the health and safety of our region.

Workforce development is a year-round commitment at The Health Collaborative that keeps us excited and engaged. September was Workforce Development Month, and it gave us plenty to celebrate! In just one month, alongside incredible regional partners, our team:

- Hosted Healthcare Pathways to a Purpose, bringing together educators, employers, and workforce partners to explore healthcare career pathways, work-based learning opportunities, and successful school-industry partnerships. The event was made possible through collaboration with the Ohio Career Pathway Support Network - Southwest Region and the Greater Cincinnati Business Advisory Council.
- Joined Lucy May on 91.7 WVXU Cincinnati to discuss a critical question facing our region: "Healthcare keeps adding jobs. What will it take to fill them?"
- Participated in the Talent Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati’s Annual Workforce Talent Summit, connecting with employers, educators, and workforce professionals from across the region to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and invest in the future workforce.
- Attended SHIFT Workforce Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a biennial gathering of leaders and innovators dedicated to shaping the future of work.
- Joined colleagues from across Ohio at the Aim Hire Workforce and Education Conference, where business, education, workforce, and community leaders came together to strengthen Ohio’s education-to-workforce talent pipeline.
- Reconnected with our 2026 TAP Health Summer Academy students for a special post-summer experience, including the opportunity to observe a live surgery at St. Elizabeth Healthcare.

And that only scratches the surface. These activities happened alongside the many initiatives underway every day to strengthen Ohio’s healthcare workforce, including the amazing work happening through Health Workforce Ohio (healthworkforceohio.org).

A huge thank you to our team, partners, employers, educators, and community leaders who make this work possible. We’re grateful to collaborate with organizations that share our commitment to building a stronger workforce and creating meaningful pathways to careers in healthcare.
