The Mental Health Awareness Month series is all about providing self-care tips for the people who give so much of themselves to others.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟓: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬... 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

You bring patience, focus, and compassion to your work each day, even the ones that feel routine. But you cannot keep giving at that level when you're not also taking care of yourself.

You matter, too. Not just for the work you do, but for who you are.

𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤:

1️⃣ Do one thing for yourself after work that has nothing to do with your job.
2️⃣ Protect your rest, even if it means saying no to something.
3️⃣ Acknowledge one thing you did well today.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to an end, here's what we hope you carry with you: 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥. 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫, 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞.

Thank you for the important work you do. It matters. And we are grateful every single day.

The most important person you're probably not taking care of is you.

Caregivers by nature give a lot of their time and energy to others, but that generosity doesn't usually extend to how they care for themselves. And that has to change.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. We remember their sacrifice, reflect on the freedoms they died to protect—and send love to the families and friends who miss them.

Their selflessness is a call to action for all of us at the Caring Gene®, a reminder of why compassion, service, and community are so important. We are grateful beyond words, today and always.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟒: 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭-𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐛.

Everything can feel urgent. Back-to-back tasks. Constant movement. But pausing for even a few seconds helps you stay focused, grounded, and present.

𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐭:

1️⃣ Take one intentional deep breath before entering a room.
2️⃣ Pause for five seconds after completing a task.
3️⃣ Slow your pace briefly to regroup.

Slowing down doesn't set you back. It's what keeps you steady in a high-stakes environment.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟑: 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥.

Somewhere along the way, being constantly tired became "part of the job," but you don't have to accept feeling drained all the time.

When you feel better, you think clearer. You respond faster. You connect more. Taking care of yourself only increases how effective you can be in caring for others.

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

1️⃣ Check in with yourself mid-shift: "What do I need right now?"
2️⃣ Talk to a coworker or supervisor about one stress point.
3️⃣ Prioritize one task instead of trying to do everything at once.
