Total couch day today for my break (don't worry Tuesday CHF peeps, I will be there tonight).
Yesterday, I put on my big girl pants and participated in the Murph Challenge. It felt amazing and so proud to be around such supportive folks.
Today, my body and mind said "you better nap lady"!!!!!! It's okay to listen to you. It's okay for rest days. It's okay to curl up on the couch (though I highly recommend a couch buddy. Georgette did not need any coaxing for snuggle time).
Listen to what you need today. Be kind to you!

Does the mind get stuck in traffic? Too much going on and there doesn't appear to be an exit? Feeling mega overwhelmed and it's difficult to catch a break? Does your face look like that cat? I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL...especially right now.
I can't promise you quick answers. But, I can promise you that time on the mat will give you a break. Allow yourself a little grace, a little time, a little break. Traffic will move eventually.

Side note - my locals will know this - that June Lake exit is beyond frustrating!!!!! Ugh.

Last week we focused on shoulders (keep working on forward and backward shoulder rolls in Table Top pose using less and less of that elbow to help).
This week, we are going back to ankles. The long forgotten and neglected joint. Can't get down to the ground without your hands? Ankles! Heels lift in squatty potty? Ankles! Shin splints? Ankles!
Take a notice of them this week. Love on your ankles, feet, and toes and the rest of you will benefit!

Let's talk a little about the knees. It's my thing that I do want to micromanage in your poses, everything else is up to your body. The knee will always track in line with the 2nd (maybe 3rd too) toe. There isn't a pose in yoga (that I know of) where the toes and knees go in separate directions. Yes, the knee can most definitely go in front of the ankle. Not too much worry there.
Today, notice where your knee goes. Pay attention to those activities you do repeatedly such as getting up from a chair or potty, how you sit in a car, sitting at a desk, and so on.
Protect your knees, protect your back, and let's create some strong legs.

An interesting question was asked, "why is it that sometimes I feel solid in poses and sometimes I'm shaking in poses?".
Most excellent question!!!!!!
A good portion of jiggling comes from you building strength! We use a ton of muscles in yoga and target some of those smaller supportive structures that are harder to hit in every day movements. I ❤️ jiggling. Once you feel solid, it might be your body's sign that it's time to challenge yourself.
Some jiggling stems from our nervous system. Maybe we are a ball of frazzled nerves and emotions. Your body might be telling you to slow down, pay attention to YOU, and breathe!
So, when the jiggles come into your practice, take a moment to celebrate the strength and address your nervous and emotional systems.

More fun recipes this week for semi quick on the go nutrition.
Open faced Sloppy Joe's-
Cook up 1 lb ground turkey. Grill or saute some veggies (pictured here - zucchini, orange and yellow peppers). Add in a can of beans for some good fiber. Add in a can of sugar free Manwich. Yes, I can make my own sloppy Joe mix but I was short on time and manwich was on sale. Heat all together. Then, take a slice of sourdough bread and top with a slice of cheese then your sloppy Joe mix. Yum!

Strawberry Angels-
Slice of angel food cake
Sliced fresh strawberries
Take 2 big spoonfuls of zero sugar cool whip and mix in 1 smaller spoonful of strawberry icing.
So freaking good that I need to stop buying angel food cake for awhile. 🤣
