When Dr. Ashley Tippins got a 90-day layoff notice, she was a single parent facing a nearly two-hour commute each way—and serving a community where patients waited months for psychiatric care, often driving all the way to Montgomery.
So she did something brave and finally opened the practice she’d dreamed of for years: Remedy Psychiatry & Counseling.
The biggest hurdle? Alabama requires NPs to have a collaborating physician, and Ashley had always heard it would cost a fortune. At CollabDocs, we're dedicated to supporting the people and organizations closing gaps in mental health access. Our team helped her sort the paperwork, expand her collaboration agreement, and get set up, so she could focus on patients. In fact, she saw her very first patient before her website was even live—someone just days away from running out of their medication.
Today, Remedy is thriving, with evening and telehealth appointments and local care that simply didn’t exist before.
