With Neurodiversity Pride Day on June 16th and Autistic Pride Day on June 18th, this week holds special significance for us here at Greenleaf. For more than 30 years, we've witnessed our participants who are autistic and neurodivergent bring invaluable perspectives, talents, and dedication to the workplace. Learning, growing, and empowering participants with Greenleaf.

This summer, our EmpowerU program is providing participants with courses in workforce development, such as self-advocacy, communication, professionalism, and life skills, and offers youth a chance to hear from past and present Empowering Employment students.

The June session is underway, but it's not too late to register for July! Our July program will run from July 6th through July 31st, with courses on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from either 9-11 AM or 1-3 PM.

Ohio lawmakers are considering a bill that could eliminate Medicaid payment for family caregivers supporting people with disabilities.

For many individuals, family caregivers are the only reliable support. Removing this option could force people out of their homes and into higher-cost care settings.
The vote is expected next week. Now is the time to speak up.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.đź’š Across the United States, 32.9% of adults with disabilities reported frequent mental distress, which is 4.6 times that of adults without disabilities (7.2%). For people with disabilities, the obstacles they face in maintaining meaningful employment play a major contributing factor in this striking imbalance.

This month and every month, Greenleaf is committed to helping our participants achieve self-advocacy, independence, and confidence through employment opportunities. Through resources and lessons such as job training, transportation access, interview skills, and more, we've helped individuals with disabilities across Ohio overcome challenges and start a new chapter of reliable employment.

At Greenleaf, we see firsthand that transportation is an all-too-common barrier to obtaining employment. That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of our spring fundraising campaign and event– Transportation Challenges & Solutions: Pathways to Employment.

In partnership with Bexley Public Library , we’re raising awareness about the limitations and possibilities of transportation access with a community event on June 27th. Greenleaf supporters and Columbus community members are invited to join us to hear powerful success stories, learn about our impact, and speak with vendors and organizers.
