We are inviting vendors to join us for the 6th Annual Stronger Together Breast Cancer Awareness Walk & Free Screening in Sugar Land, Texas, on October 3, 2026.

This is a great opportunity to connect with the community, increase visibility for your brand, and be part of a day focused on awareness, wellness, hope, and support.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2018, I quickly learned that healing was about more than just treatment. It was about caring for my mind, my body, my spirit, and my support system.

These are the things I would share with anyone walking through a cancer diagnosis based on my own journey.

1. Put God first (if faith is part of your life).

For me, prayer became my source of strength. In moments of fear and uncertainty, my faith helped me keep going. Having people pray with me and for me reminded me that I was not alone.

2. Take care of your mental health.

Cancer affects more than your body. The emotional impact of a diagnosis, treatment, and uncertainty can be overwhelming. Seeking support from a therapist or counselor can help you process your emotions and navigate the journey.

Do you know your breast cancer type?

In many low and middle income countries, women are diagnosed with breast cancer and begin treatment without fully understanding their cancer subtype or sometimes without having the necessary testing done to determine it.

One of the most important tests after a breast cancer diagnosis is called Immunohistochemistry (IHC).

This test looks at:
âś” ER
âś” PR
âś” HER2

These markers help doctors understand what is driving the cancer and guide treatment decisions.

Not all breast cancers are the same.
Not all treatments work for every type.

An IHC test can help determine the most appropriate treatment pathway and may influence decisions about surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, and follow up care.

If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, ask:

• Was an IHC test done?
• What is my ER status?
• What is my PR status?
• What is my HER2 status?

Every woman deserves to know her breast cancer type and have treatment guided by the best available information.

Knowledge is power. Know your type.
