I’m Tandra Dumond, owner and stylist at Hair Studio 90 professional when I need to be, sassy pretty much all the time, and probably still going to accidentally drop a swear word (and my comb) during your appointment no matter how many times I tell myself I’m going to behave.
But more importantly, I’m the stylist who genuinely cares about you outside of the salon chair.
You are never just an appointment on my books or a dollar amount walking through my door. I want to know how your kids are doing, how that new job is going, whether you finally left that boyfriend we all knew you needed to leave, and what’s happening in your real life. Some of you have been sitting in my chair since day one, and there truly aren’t enough words to explain how grateful I am for that.
When I opened Hair Studio 90 in 2020, during one of the craziest times imaginable, I did it because I wanted something better for myself and my family. I wanted the freedom to build a career I loved without sacrificing being a mom.
And six years later, that is still one of my favorite parts of being a salon owner.
I don’t miss my kids’ games.
I don’t miss birthdays.
I don’t miss school concerts.
I get to be there for the moments that matter while still waking up every day and building something I’m incredibly proud of.
And every morning I get to decide what the vibe at Hair Studio 90 is going to be.
The answer?
Positive. Upbeat. Welcoming. Slightly inappropriate. Usually laughing. Occasionally chaotic. And sometimes under a whole lot of construction.
Haha.
If you’ve been here long enough, you’ve watched this salon change, grow, expand and probably get rearranged more times than either of us can count. You’ve seen my kids running through the salon grabbing snacks, hanging out between sports and school, and chances are you’ve probably seen a few neighborhood kids wander through too.
That’s because Hair Studio 90 has never been about creating some perfectly quiet, stuffy salon environment.
This is real life. This is family.
I wanted to create a place where women, men, kids and families could walk through the door exactly as they are and feel comfortable. A place where you can laugh, vent, celebrate, cry if you need to, drink something, grab a snack, get beautiful hair and leave feeling a little better than when you came in.
Hair has always made me happy, especially blonding, custom color, color corrections and extensions but the relationships I’ve built behind the chair are what have made this career mean so much more to me. I love you all so much and I truly hope you feel that when you are in my chair and when you aren’t.
Owning Hair Studio 90 has also given me the opportunity to give back to the community I love, help families when I can, support other women in this industry and create opportunities for other stylists to grow right alongside me. Recently my Sister had joined Lisa and I and it’s been so nice watching her learn and grow.
To every person who has booked with me, referred a friend, shared a post, supported one of my crazy ideas, dealt with construction dust, watched my family grow, trusted me with your hair and continued choosing this little locally owned salon
thank you.
You helped me build a life I once only hoped I could have, a life where I am in rich in the ways that matter most.
I’ll never stop being grateful for that.
And if we haven’t met yet, Hair Studio 90 is accepting new clients.
Come as you are.
Just know there may be kids, snacks, laughter, inappropriate language, great music and one very grateful salon owner who is probably going to know your entire life story by your third appointment. 🤍
