This Maternal Mental Health Month, we want to remind every birthing parent that it is okay to take a break. Whether you are in the "fourth trimester" or years into your parenting journey, your mental health is just as important as your physical recovery.

As the images show, maternal health doesn’t end at delivery. Support means more than just checking on the baby; it means nourishing the parent, lending a hand with chores, and providing a safe space to say, "I’m overwhelmed."

In 2025, our Executive Director, Alicia Simpson, joined a powerhouse cohort of changemakers in the YWCA of Greater Atlanta’s Georgia Women’s Policy Institute (GWPI).

Through this fellowship, Alicia didn’t just learn the "ins and outs" of the Golden Dome—she helped build a vehicle for change. From her work in the program, SB307 was created to advocate for birthing people across Georgia, and the Georgia Alliance for Maternal Health was born! 🌟

This past Wednesday, as a new cohort was inducted into the YWCA Women of Achievement, Alicia was honored to share the story of GWPI’s lasting impact.

At Pea Pod Nutrition, we know that true wellness requires dismantling the systems that create barriers. We continue to advance health equity for Georgia’s families through culturally responsive education and evidence-based support—ensuring every child has the foundation they deserve.
