This Week Around the Care Synergy Network

There is always something happening across the Care Synergy Network! This week, we’re sharing a video with an important perspective on hospice, inviting people to “A Vintage Affair,” and celebrating Colorado PACE’s success at helping participants remain independent.

“Hospice isn’t about death, it’s about the rest of your life.” Those words offer a powerful way to understand what hospice care is really about. That is why Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is grateful to Rocky Mountain PBS and Allies for Aging for helping to create a touching video that shares a broader perspective on hospice care. Check it out here: https://pikespeakhospice.org/blog/18167/Hospice-isn-t-about-death-It-s-about-the-rest-of-your-life-

The countdown has begun! Pathways invites the community to join us for the 24th Annual A Vintage Affair on September 20, 2026—an unforgettable evening of exceptional beverages, entertainment, connection, and meaningful community support. https://pathways-care.org/blog/17612/Save-the-Date-and-Purchase-Tickets-for-Pathways-23rd-Annual-A-Vintage-Affair

Independence is important at every stage of life. At Colorado PACE, helping older adults maintain that independence is at the heart of what they do. Their recent participant satisfaction survey provided an encouraging look at the impact of their approach: more than 50% of participants who responded to the survey reported that they are living independently. https://coloradopace.org/blog/18176/Helping-Older-Adults-Stay-Independent-What-Our-Colorado-PACE-Participants-Are-Telling-Us

These stories reflect the many ways Care Synergy and our Affiliates are making an impact. Thank you for being part of the Care Synergy family and helping make this work possible every day.

This Week Around the Care Synergy Network

There is always something happening across the Care Synergy Network! This week, we’re celebrating a decade of partnership, a journey toward greater independence, 20 years of compassionate volunteer service, and an exciting new chapter for Pathways.

10 Years of Opportunity
As a new school year begins, we’re celebrating 10 years of partnership between Care Synergy and Arrupe Jesuit High School. Since 2016, Arrupe students have gained valuable real-world experience while working in support roles across Care Synergy and its Affiliates.

A Journey Back to Independence
For Colorado PACE participant Leon Bryant, being able to walk into church on his own represented something much bigger than taking steps. His care team listened to what mattered most to him and helped him work toward an important personal goal.

20 Years of Compassionate Service
Pikes Peak Hospice volunteer Joan Eitzen was recently recognized in Veterans Life Magazine for her military service and 20 years of volunteering with Pikes Peak Hospice. Her dedication is a wonderful example of the lasting impact volunteers can have on the lives of others.

As a new school year begins, we’re celebrating a very special milestone: 10 years of partnership between Care Synergy and Arrupe Jesuit High School!

Known as “The School That Works,” Arrupe Jesuit combines classroom education with real-world work experience. Since 2016, students have worked in support roles across Care Synergy and its Affiliates while earning money through their work-study program to help pay for their education.

Through our intern scholarship program, Care Synergy covers the cost of each participating student’s tuition. It’s an investment in students who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to pursue this education. More than 80% of Arrupe Jesuit students are the first in their families to graduate from high school.

It’s also an investment in the future of healthcare.

“Workforce challenges are real across the healthcare industry,” said Tricia Ford, Care Synergy CEO Elect and COO. “We have the opportunity to introduce students to meaningful careers, build relationships over time, and develop future employees who already understand our culture and expectations.”

For a decade, this partnership has created opportunities, strengthened our community and helped develop the next generation of professionals.

This Week Around the Care Synergy Network

There's always something exciting happening across the Care Synergy Network—and this week is no exception!

From investing in leadership and welcoming the next generation of hospice physicians to sharing our expertise on the airwaves and supporting the fight against Alzheimer's disease, our Affiliates continue to strengthen our communities and advance our mission every day.

Take a few minutes to catch up on this week's highlights:

Great organizations are built on trust, transparency, collaboration, and a commitment to developing leaders. Last week, Care Synergy put those values into action by bringing together the Boards of Directors and senior leaders from across our Affiliate organizations for a meaningful day of connection, conversation, and collaboration (https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18012/Bringing-Leaders-Together-to-Strengthen-the-Future-of-Care-Synergy). The organization also invested in the future by hosting a full day of Leadership Development Training, equipping leaders from across the network with the tools to continue strengthening our culture and advancing our mission (https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18031/Care-Synergy-Invests-in-Leadership-Development-Across-Its-Network).

Speaking of investing in the future, The Denver Hospice welcomed the University of Colorado Anschutz Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship Class of 2027 as the fellows begin their clinical rotations with the TDH team. Their time with The Denver Hospice will help prepare the next generation of physicians dedicated to providing compassionate hospice and palliative care. https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18045/Welcoming-the-University-of-Colorado-Hospice-Palliative-Medicine-Fellows

Meanwhile, radio waves were crackling with Care Synergy energy. Pathways Director of Business Development Natalie Petersen and Vice President of Clinical Services Marianne Buss joined the team at Good Morning NOCO to share their personal journeys, discuss the work of Pathways, and highlight the important role hospice plays in our communities (https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18024/Care-Synergy-In-The-News-7-31-26). Similarly, members of the Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care bereavement team recorded an SRC Senior Talk radio segment exploring the vital role bereavement counselors play in supporting families through every step of their grief journey (https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18044/Supporting-Families-Through-Every-Step-of-the-Grief-Journey).

Colorado PACE also continues to make an impact beyond the walls of its center by participating in this year's Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. By joining communities across the country, the team is helping raise awareness, inspire hope, and support the fight to end Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. https://coloradopace.org/blog/18047/Colorado-PACE-is-Walking-to-End-Alzheimer-s

Strong leadership helps create stronger care.

Last Thursday, leaders from across the Care Synergy network came together for a full day of Leadership Development Training focused on learning, collaboration, and growth.

The day began with CEO-Elect Tricia Ford, who celebrated the many accomplishments Care Synergy and our Affiliates have achieved over the past year while sharing an inspiring look at the opportunities ahead.

Care Synergy's Vice President of Clinical Education, Dr. Nancy Hernandez, and Vice President of Human Resources, Crystal O'Brien, then led engaging sessions on key leadership skills, including navigating change, effective project management, and having difficult conversations with confidence and compassion.

Investing in our leaders means investing in the people and communities we serve. We are grateful to everyone who participated and to our presenters for sharing their knowledge, experience, and vision for the future.

Together, we continue to build leaders who strengthen our mission of providing exceptional care across Colorado.

We’re thrilled to share that Care Synergy and the CAPABLE National Center have been selected as finalists for the Elevance Health Foundation Patient Safety Prize!

The Patient Safety Prize recognizes proven solutions that can help improve patient safety for communities across the United States. Care Synergy and the CAPABLE National Center were selected as finalists in the area of “Promoting Fall-Free Futures,” recognizing the potential of CAPABLE to help older adults remain safe, independent and engaged in their homes and communities.

Launched by the Elevance Health Foundation in December 2025, the Patient Safety Prize will award up to $5 million to innovative solutions addressing health literacy, medication errors and fall prevention.

As a finalist, Care Synergy and the CAPABLE National Center will have the opportunity to refine our project, incorporate feedback from the evaluation panel, and present our work to the Selection Committee.

Up to three winners will each receive up to $1.5 million, with up to two Honorable Mentions receiving up to $250,000. Winners and Honorable Mentions will be announced in fall 2026.

We’re proud to be recognized alongside four other finalists working to advance patient safety across the country, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase how CAPABLE can help create safer, more independent futures for older adults.

Congratulations to our CAPABLE National Center team and everyone who continues to champion innovative approaches to improving the lives of older adults!
