Today, HealthTeamWorks’ Deb Kazmerzak joined state, public health and community leaders from across Iowa for The Role of the Community Health Worker: Iowa Conversations.

The discussion highlighted the important role Community Health Workers play in supporting communities, improving access to care, and strengthening public health efforts across the state. Deb shared insights on CHW opportunities and joined others in exploring the current landscape and future growth of the CHW workforce in Iowa.

We are proud to be part of conversations that support and strengthen the Community Health Worker workforce and advance healthier communities across Iowa.

Stigma grows in silence. Healing begins in community.

This Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that no one should struggle alone. By speaking openly, listening without judgment, and supporting one another, we help create communities where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Take a moment to learn more through NAMI and consider sharing your story to help break the silence. You may be the reason someone realizes they don’t have to face this alone.

This is a great example of community-based outreach in action. The University of Florida’s HealthStreet and HealthScreen programs use CHWs, nurses, and mobile health vehicles to provide screenings and connect rural community members to care and support services.

During EMS Week, we recognize and thank the EMS professionals who show up every day to care for their communities during some of life’s most difficult moments.

From early stroke recognition and prehospital ultrasound to lifesaving interventions delivered before a patient even reaches the hospital, EMS continues to evolve and make a meaningful difference in communities across the country.

We thank the people behind the patch for their dedication, skill, and humanity. Learn more about EMS Week: https://emsweek.org/https://emsweek.org/

HealthTeamWorks, with support from the MolinaCares Foundation, launched the CHW Learning & Network Collaborative in February 2026 to create a space for Community Health Workers across Iowa to connect, share resources, and discuss real-world challenges impacting their communities.

Now three sessions into the collaborative, participant feedback continues to highlight just how valuable peer connection and networking opportunities are for CHWs who are often doing this important work in isolation.

Focusing on timely topics such as state reorganization, self-care, advocacy, system navigation and resource availability, the collaborative continues to foster meaningful peer learning, collaboration, and statewide connection.
