When temperatures rise, it’s important to know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Heat exhaustion is your body’s warning sign that it’s overheating. Symptoms may include heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea and muscle cramps. Moving to a cool place, drinking water and resting can often help.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone has a high body temperature, becomes confused, loses consciousness or has trouble speaking, call 911 immediately.
