Long-held emotions and chronic stress can create protective holding patterns in the body, especially in the back and shoulders. Because these areas help support and stabilize us physically, emotional tension often accumulates there over time, leading to tightness, discomfort, and restricted movement.

In spiritual and energy work, the shoulder joints are often associated with responsibility, burdens, and the weight we carry emotionally. They can symbolize how we handle pressure, expectations, and unresolved emotional stress, especially related to control, support, and feeling overwhelmed.
