The area under your eyes is one of the most talked about and most misunderstood places on the face. People blame sleep. They blame genetics. They buy eye cream.
Chinese face reading goes much deeper than that.
In the lineage I learned, the under-eye area reflects the Kidneys. But because Liver and Kidney share a root in TCM, what shows up there tells the story of both. Bluish tones point to Kidney Qi deficiency. Brownish or grayish color speaks to Liver Blood deficiency with Kidney involvement. Puffiness points to the Kidneyโ€™s struggle with fluid metabolism. These are not cosmetic variations. They are the body keeping honest records.
And one of the fastest ways to deplete this whole system is going to sleep after 11 PM. Every night.
Liver Blood restoration begins between 11 PM and 1 AM. That window matters more than any supplement you could take. Two weeks of earlier sleep will show up under your eyes before it shows up anywhere else. ๐ŸŒ™

Your temples are not just where headaches happen or stress is held. In Chinese face reading, they are one area where your Gallbladder tells its story.
The temples correspond to the Gallbladder meridian, which runs right along the side of the head. Hollowing there can reflect years of depletion in the Gallbladder system. Bluish or purplish tones point to Qi and Blood stagnation in that channel. Visible tension or tightness at the temples tells the story of emotion that has been held and managed rather than moved through.
Chronic lateral headaches. Jaw clenching. The feeling of always bracing. It all lives here.
Two to three minutes of slow circular massage along the temples every day actually moves Qi through that channel. It is not just relaxing. It is medicine. ๐ŸŒฟ

Spring headaches that throb at your temples or start at the base of your skull are not random. They are a Liver pattern, and they show up for a reason. Spring is associated with the liver system and wood element.
In Chinese medicine, when Liver Yin and Blood are not strong enough to hold the Yang energy down, it rises. Straight up the Liver and Gallbladder channels, right into the sides of your head, behind your eyes, into your neck. Stress makes it worse. Poor sleep makes it worse. A glass of wine makes it worse. All three deplete the Liver Yin that is supposed to be anchoring everything.
That is not a coincidence. That is a pattern.
Liver 3 is your first stop. The webbing between your big toe and second toe, firm pressure, one to two minutes on each foot. Use it at the very first sign of that rising feeling. ๐ŸŒฟ

Craving vinegar lately? Reaching for citrus on everything? Suddenly obsessed with pickled things?
Your Liver is asking for the sour taste. And in Chinese medicine, that craving is worth listening to.
Every organ system has a corresponding taste that supports it in the right amount. The taste of the Wood element and the Liver-Gallbladder system is sour. Small amounts gather and hold Liver Yin and Blood, calm reactive energy, and support the smooth flow of Qi through the whole body.
The key word is small. A squeeze of lemon. A splash of rice vinegar. A few bites of fermented vegetables. Enough to speak to the Liver, not so much that you contract it.
One squeeze of fresh lemon in your water every morning through May. That is the medicine. ๐Ÿ‹

Falling asleep fine and then popping wide awake between 1 and 3 AM with a mind that will not quit?
That is not insomnia. That is your Liver talking.
In Chinese medicine, 1 to 3 AM is the Liverโ€™s window on the organ clock. It is when the Liver is meant to receive the blood, process the emotional residue of the day, and restore the whole body. When Liver Qi is stagnant or congested, that processing cannot happen quietly. The stuck Qi generates Heat, the Heat rises, the mind gets loud, and there you are at 2 AM staring at the ceiling replaying everything.
This pattern is not random. It is a pattern. And patterns can be shifted.
Cooked beets or tart cherry juice before bed for two weeks. Gentle, nourishing, and targeted directly at that 1 to 3 window. Try it before you try anything else. ๐Ÿ’

The space between your eyebrows is one of the most honest places on your face. And it has been quietly reading your Liver this whole time.
Those vertical lines between the brows are not just from frowning. They tell the story of what your Liver has been holding. One deep line reflects long-standing frustration or anger that never fully found its way out.
Your face is not aging. It is recording.
The next time you catch yourself making that expression, pause. Something inside is tight. That is not a wrinkle. That is a message. ๐ŸŒฟ

Woke up with a stiff neck out of nowhere? Old pain flaring up? Headache that came on fast with no obvious reason?
It may be the Wind.
In Chinese medicine, Wind is said to bring a thousand diseases because it never comes alone. It brings cold, heat, and dampness straight into the body. And your Liver and Gallbladder are especially sensitive to Wind.
The entry point is the back of the neck. Fengchi or Wind Pool.
A lightweight scarf on a breezy day is not old fashioned. It is one of the simplest and most effective things you can do for your Liver this spring. ๐Ÿƒ

Paralyzed by decisions lately? Spinning in circles, every option feeling wrong, anxiety spiking just from being asked what you want for lunch?
That is not overthinking. That is Gallbladder Qi.
In Chinese medicine, the Gallbladder is the Official of Decision and Judgment. It gives you the nerve to act on what the Liver already knows. When that Qi is weak or blocked, you do not just feel indecisive. You feel small. Timid. Like you cannot trust yourself.
Spring is exactly when this pattern surfaces because Wood energy is demanding movement and the Gallbladder is the one that has to answer the call.
One breath. One choice. Even a small one. That is how you start building it back. ๐ŸŒฟ
