Menopause isn't "just something you push through." 🌡️

A patient came to see me this week: 8+ hot flashes a day, no sleep, no energy, brain fog, no s*x drive — and the scale still climbing despite doing everything right.

She'd been told estrogen causes breast cancer. So she was scared to even consider HRT.

Swipe for what the actual data says 👉

I sent her home with a reading list instead of just my word. Sharing it here too:

Then. And now. 📸

I almost didn’t post this.

For a long time, I was the provider telling patients to prioritize their health while quietly putting my own last on the list. I know how that sounds. But I think a lot of us in this field learn to give and give until there’s nothing left to give ourselves.

Then. That’s someone who was surviving.
Someone who knew the science, knew the statistics, knew exactly what to tell a patient — and still couldn’t turn that knowledge inward.

Now. Is someone who finally decided she was worth the same care she gives everyone else.

It didn’t happen overnight. It took a lot of hard days, a lot of unlearning, and a lot of choosing myself even when it felt uncomfortable or selfish. But I got here. And that’s why when I tell you self-care is health care, I’m not reciting something from a textbook or a lecture hall. I’m telling you something I had to learn the hard way, in my own body, in my own life.

That’s also why this work is personal to me now. I don’t just want to treat symptoms — I want to walk alongside people who are ready to make themselves a priority, the way I finally did.

If that’s you, and you’re looking for a provider who gets it — not just clinically, but personally — I’d be honored to be part of your journey.

This past weekend, I had the absolute honor of speaking at an incredible women’s gathering— a room full of women who are showing up every single day, carrying more than anyone knows, and still choosing to pour into others.

The theme was Pressure Makes Diamonds — God Sees Your Radiance. And I went up there with one message on my heart:

Self-care is not selfish. Self-care is health care.

As a Nurse Practitioner, I could have stood in front of that room and rattled off a clinical list. But what those women deserved — what you deserve — is a real conversation. Not another reminder from a healthcare provider to drink more water and get more sleep. A conversation about why so many of us have stopped believing we are worth caring for in the first place.

Swipe through for 10 simple, accessible ways to start reclaiming your radiance — no spa day required. 💎

These are the small things. The quiet things. The things that remind your body and your spirit that you matter.

Save this.
Share it with a woman in your life who needs the reminder. And then actually do one of them this week. 🤍

✨ Which tip are you starting with? Drop it in the comments — I want to know.

Yesterday I had the honor and privilege of being a speaker at Precious, Honored, and STILL Chosen — A Women's Gathering. 💙

What an incredible evening. Getting to stand in front of such a powerful room of women, sharing pieces of my heart and story, is something I won't forget. There's nothing quite like being surrounded by women who show up for each other, lift each other up, and remind you that you are seen.

I will share the handout that was at every table.

And I will be sharing more video clips soon as they're ready, but for now here are a few moments from a truly special night. ✨

Your serum B12 can look completely normal — and you can still be functionally deficient. 🧬

Here's what most doctors don't test (and why it matters):

🔬 Serum B12 only tells you what's circulating in your blood — not what's getting INTO your cells.

The two markers that actually reveal functional B12 status:

→ Homocysteine — rises when B12, B6, and folate are insufficient. Also a key cardiovascular risk marker.
→ MMA (Methylmalonic Acid) — the gold standard. Shows whether B12 is working at the cellular level, even when serum B12 looks "fine."

When both MMA and homocysteine are elevated = confirmed functional B12 deficiency.

Ask your doctor to run the full panel if you:
✔ Have unexplained fatigue, brain fog, or mood changes
✔ Take metformin, PPIs, or oral contraceptives
✔ Eat plant-based
✔ Have gut issues (IBS, SIBO, Celiac, IBD)
✔ Are over 50

Save this for your next appointment. 📌

Your doctor said "normal."

But you're exhausted, losing hair, and something still feels off. 👇

These 10 lab markers are routinely dismissed — but according to functional medicine standards, they're warning signs your body can't afford to ignore.

✦ Ferritin at 35? Hair loss territory.
✦ TSH at 3.2? Your thyroid is struggling.
✦ B12 at 300? Nerve damage is already beginning.

The gap between "normal" ranges and optimal ranges could be the difference between surviving and thriving.

You deserve real answers — not just reassurance.

📋 At Essential Remedy, we offer comprehensive functional lab reviews that go beyond the standard panel so you can finally understand what your body is telling you.

🌞 Did you know Vitamin D isn’t technically a vitamin at all?

Your body makes it from sunlight, converts it in your liver and kidneys, and uses it to send signals to nearly every cell in your body — including the ones that decide whether to store your next meal as fat or build it into muscle.

That’s a hormone. Not a vitamin.

And here’s what most doctors don’t tell you: the “normal” range on your labs isn’t the optimal range.

Most people walking around at a “normal” 30 ng/mL are still operating at a fraction of what their body is capable of.

Optimal levels (60–80 ng/mL) are associated with:
✅ Better body composition
✅ Stronger muscle protein synthesis
✅ More efficient fat metabolism
✅ Better insulin sensitivity
✅ Improved mood and energy

If you’re eating well, exercising, and still not seeing results — your Vitamin D level might be the missing piece.

We check this in every single patient panel. Because you can’t optimize a body you haven’t fully assessed.

👇 Drop “D CHECK” in the comments and we’ll tell you exactly what to ask your provider for.
