This weekend I learned all about intra-oral massage and temporomandibular joint release. I’m also learning how to apply heated bamboo and cold gusha to decrease inflammation/tension in the face. Here are a few things this can help with (breathing/swallowing/teeth grinding, much more) It’s VERY interesting. I’m hoping learning this can help some of you. Once I feel comfortable enough in my practice, I’ll be adding it to my schedule. For now, if you’re interested or want a brief introduction to it, let me know.

Intra-oral massage may be a little out of some of your comfort zones. You might feel like you are at the dentist rather than at your massage appointment.
To ease any misconceptions about this, I will work with only light-to-moderate pressure and closely communicate with clients to ensure they are comfortable throughout the entire process.

Although this may seem out of the ordinary, I can say working the interior muscles of the mouth is incredibly relieving, and it is quite amazing how much BETTER and more accessible they are to reach. The work I had done today was highly therapeutic, and I can’t wait to start using this modality in my practice.
