UC San Diego Cancer Services Fridays 10.30 am in Encinitas. Also Healing Through Art 24 CE professional development online course California State University San Marcos Extended Learning CSU Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care starts 10/7.

Take the time to read this piece "San Diego is Smart to Invest in Healing Through Art" from Grant Oliphant, President and CEO of The Prebys Foundation about the growing connection between arts, culture, nature and health.

Healing doesn’t happen only in clinical settings. It also happens through creativity, relationships, movement, time outdoors and a sense of belonging.

San Diego has an extraordinary network of artists, cultural organizations and community programs already doing this work. Increasingly, we are recognizing that these organizations are not simply amenities. They can be part of our community health infrastructure.

The growing work around social prescribing and arts and health gives us an opportunity to connect the arts more intentionally with healthcare, philanthropy and public investment.

As Grant writes, “Communities themselves can become places of healing.”
