Last week, I celebrated my 10-year anniversary of being diagnosed with breast cancer. It had only been 14 months since Alan had passed away, and we were only just beginning to shake off the paralysis of grief....only to get wrenched back into the worst kind of overwhelm.

It ended up being one of the most awful and also transformative passages I've ever been through. I would not wish the fear that one is orphaning their children on anyone.

But now, just a few weeks off from turning 60, the gratitude I feel for simply being alive has only amplified and curiously, defies living in a world that has not gotten any more peaceful, certainly.

And it just keeps getting stronger, which has lead through a life in which there are so many beautiful joys in every day. I treasure them, and I treasure all of you.

A couple of decades ago, I started to notice my clients and others chanting “I don’t know” as an addendum to every description of the hardest challenges they were facing. We are preconditioned to reject our intuition, to minimize, suppress, and discredit it. So, it seemed like a logical conclusion to assume their intuition had nothing to say about the things that were the most important to them. But it was in effect, exactly like taking a fly swatter to a beautiful butterfly that had landed close by.
In this week’s meditation, we unpack the reflexive habit of assuming we don’t know, and replace it with something much more empowering.

I still remember exactly how I felt, pinned in terror on my couch in my nightgown, barely coherent after being awoken by my sister calling, her voice in my ear screaming "Turn on the TV TURN ON THE TV a plane crashed into the World Trade Center!!". I watched the second plane crash live and in real time. And all of the horror that followed.

25 years later, I understand more about how many of us were alerted to hold space for what would happen, ahead of the event itself, and what it means about our deepest connections to one another.

They were more than premonitions.

This week on Everyday Intuition we start a series of what I hope are uplifting meditations for paid subscribers, in a very snackable format. (They will eventually be converted into sound recordings so you can listen as well!)

Paid subscriptions are a great gift to give yourself or someone you love who might need a boost to learn how to trust the still, small voice inside.

These meditations are meant to be tools you can use quickly and easily in a variety of situations, whether it be to begin your day, help you pause and reflect throughout it, or end it on a peaceful note.

Think of them as short form notes to help you center yourself in the belief that we are all intuitive and to remind you that your intuition is a safe haven, your best guide, and the part of you that is always trustworthy.

Hello Friends! Can you believe that August is winding down?? It always goes by so fast.

There is a reason I aim to get as often as possible. And it's not as trivial as you might think.

We absolutely need joy in our lives. Even during times of struggle or suffering, we still need to feel connected to it, to feel saturated with it, full and ripe with love and approval for ourselves. Your intuition’s job is to help you get access to joy, but in a very infinity symbol kind of exchange of energy, it’s also fed by it. You are left with both the responsibility and the ability to intentionally cultivate joy in your life. It’s one of the best ways I know to make that intuitive voice strong. And loud.

Joy is sustenance. It is resistance.

This is a new kind of grief for us. We live a mile away from where Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero was murdered. To be part of a community response that feels appropriately loud and clear in its demand that immigrants be welcomed, valued, and recognized for the beautiful part of the fabric of our country that they have always been, is an honor.

This has to stop.
