Standard Lyme treatment targets Borrelia but does not treat Babesia or adequately pe*****te cells to treat Bartonella.

When a co-infection goes unidentified, the patient completes their antibiotic course and their Borrelia burden decreases.

Still, Babesia continues destroying red blood cells, driving fatigue, night sweats, and air hunger nobody can explain.

The physician sees a completed course and a negative Lyme test. The conclusion becomes treatment failure, or worse, psychosomatic.

By the time anemia shows up on a CBC, iron stores have been depleted for months, sometimes years.

Ferritin is the marker that reflects actual iron storage, and you can have a perfectly normal hemoglobin with critically low ferritin and still be experiencing significant neurological and psychiatric symptoms.

84% of children with ADHD had ferritin levels below 30 ng/mL β€” compared to only 18% of typically developing kids.

And in a double-blind trial, iron supplementation produced ADHD symptom improvements comparable to stimulant medication.

This isn't fringe. It just hasn't made it into mainstream practice yet.

During pregnancy, blood volume increases 40–50%, and iron demand doubles β€” with the baby taking from maternal stores first.

Then delivery brings 300–1000ml of blood loss depending on delivery type, and postpartum hemorrhage affects roughly 1 in 10 births.

The iron deficit adds up fast.

Honestly... I don't think physicians should have one.

That may sound controversial, but hear me out.
The moment a doctor decides there's one belief they'll never question is the moment curiosity starts to disappear.

Medicine is constantly evolving. New discoveries are made. Evidence changes. Every patient is unique. If we're unwilling to question our assumptions, we risk limiting what's possible for the people we care for.

As physicians, our job isn't to defend an ideology. It's to stay curious, remain humble, evaluate the evidence, and do what's best for the person sitting in front of us.

So no, I don't have a hill I'll die on πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

The hill I'll stand on is curiosity. Humility. Lifelong learning. And putting patients before pride, certainty, or ego.

Because the best clinicians aren't the ones who never change their minds, they're the ones willing to change when the evidence, their experience, or the patient's story leads them in a different direction.

Chronic stress, cortisol spikes, PPIs, diuretics, antibiotics, and certain medications all accelerate magnesium depletion.

For patients on extended antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease or managing multiple medications, depletion is almost guaranteed without deliberate supplementation.

In OCD, the brain's CSTC circuit gets stuck β€” repetitive thoughts recirculate because glutamate signaling is dysregulated.

NAC helps by activating a transporter that increases inhibitory glutamate receptor activity, reducing the excess glutamate transmission that keeps the loop running.

Magnesium is always bound to another molecule β€” and that binding determines absorption, where it works in the body, and side effects.

The most important thing to check on any label is the elemental magnesium content, not the total compound weight.

A 500mg magnesium glycinate capsule may only contain 120–200mg of actual magnesium.

Harvard researchers proposed that amyloid beta isn't the villain in Alzheimer's β€” it may be the brain's immune defense, trapping pathogens like biological amber.

The immune system did its job.

The problem is the cleanup never came.

Immunosuppressive treatments like steroids and biologics can be appropriate β€” but if active Lyme or a co-infection is involved, suppressing the immune system without treating the infection can allow the bacteria to spread more aggressively.

Both need to be evaluated together before long-term immunosuppression begins.
