Weekly Blessings..
With fall in the air and back to school in session, it can be a time when we look to our peers to compare and even become jealous. But we are called to love and be present with each other, to cheer each other on and affirm instead of envy.
This week my prayer for you is to give accolades and appreciate- others and yourself. If you find yourself jealous or envious of another, instead bless them and tell them you admire them. God will bless you too in your own special way and need.
Love Always,
Emily

While it's true that the ocean does have a higher salt concentration compared to the human body, salt does play an important role in our health. As much as there is guidance for low salt diets to reduce blood pressure, salt is an important electrolyte that helps balance our body's core functions. Salt facilitates transport of fluid into cells, transmits electrical signals throughout our nervous system, absorbs vital nutrients and creates amino acids and helps with digestion by producing hydrochloric acid. So it's not all bad but certainly not an ocean's worth!
Life is about balance an appreciate even the little grains of salt

Women experience 4x suicidal thoughts compared to men; that's a tough fact.
The thoughts of self harm and degrading of self stem from social pressures, demands of being a caregiver and abuse from a partner. The gender paradox of men and women shows the negative thoughts that are more prevalent for females and the harm this internally does as the emotional and mental stress increases cortisol and oxidative stress for further long term physical health complications.
So let's talk about it.
You are not alone.
I appreciate you and I'm here to support you.

If you'd like to schedule a free virtual consult for primary care membership, contact me today: [email protected]

If you or someone you know is having suicidal or harmful thoughts, please seek emergency care immediately.

It's !
When we meet for a visit it's a little different from what you may be used to...
I welcome you in and offer tea or water for our visit. We'll go into the exam room but I encourage you to sit in a chair and not strip away your clothes. We simply talk and I listen as you share your concerns, history, feelings and needs. I'll listen to your heart and lungs, take vitals and perform a physical assessment but mostly I listen to you. We'll end the visit creating a personal plan together which may include referrals, diagnostics or just motivation for your changes in your control.
Call me old fashioned but when it comes to your primary care, I believe it starts with caring and that's my authentic mission.

Thank you and love always! Emily

This labor day, I'm sharing my "labor of love" and vocation to serve my communities through my direct primary care practice.
Not all DPCs and Primary Care are the same.
I practice what is called "slow medicine;" an authentic conversation with patients to holistically and personally care for you.

Slow medicine is a patient-centered healthcare approach that prioritizes thoughtful, unhurried time, relational connections, and careful clinical reasoning over rapid, tech-driven, and high-volume medical interventions.

Core Principles:
Time and Presence: Spending adequate time interviewing, examining, and observing the patient rather than rushing through brief appointments. Carefully evaluating medical evidence to resist the urge to overtest, overdiagnose, or overtreat.
Holistic Context: Viewing the patient as a whole person (or using a biological plant metaphor for healing) rather than treating the body merely as a broken machine and disease.
Measured and Equitable Care: Grounding medical choices in the principles of being measured, respectful, equitable and affordable.

Weekly Blessing
The mind is a powerful tool, but our spirit gives way to trusting faith and having an appreciative hope. Our minds want to analyze objectively and concretely rationalize with facts and figured but our spirit explores, envisions and dreams. It is a balance of the art and science, of mind and spirit that is so important to guide our steps, trusting that there is ground literally underneath but where we go to have a freedom for our spirit to lead and navigate.
Find your balance of spirit and mind, find freedom and dependence on not what is seen but what is envisioned.
Have a blessed week and Love Always!
I appreciate you!
