DARK TURN: A Maryland man claims Ozempic left him legally blind in both eyes after being prescribed the drug for diabetes.

Todd Engel says he lost vision in his right eye four months after starting the medication, then lost sight in his left eye 10 months later — with doctors diagnosing him with NAION, a condition that damages the optic nerve through reduced blood flow.

Engel has sued Novo Nordisk, alleging the company failed to warn patients and doctors about the potential risk. The company disputes the claims, stating a causal relationship between semaglutide and NAION "cannot be confirmed based on the totality of data."
