High blood pressure is often called a “silent” condition because you may not feel it—but over time, it can take a serious toll on your heart and overall health. ❤️ Please do not skip your regular checkups! For people who are overweight or living with obesity, even modest weight loss may help lower blood pressure, reduce strain on the heart, and improve cardiovascular and metabolic health. 💙 Your weight-loss journey can be about much more than the number on the scale—it can be an investment in your heart and your future health.

Lowering the number on the scale may also help lower the numbers on the blood-pressure monitor—We offer GLP-1 program.

⚠️ As of the latest available reporting, Florida has reported 12 confirmed cases of Vibrio vulnificus in 2026, including one death. Recent reports indicate the total increased from 11 to 12 after the Florida Department of Health's July 23 update.

Vibrio vulnificus is a naturally occurring bacterium found in warm saltwater and brackish water, especially during the summer months. People can become infected by:
- Exposing an open wound to warm coastal water.
- Eating raw or undercooked oysters or other shellfish.

The risk of severe illness is highest for people with:
- Liver disease.
- Diabetes.
- Cancer.
- Weakened immune systems.
- Other chronic health conditions

To reduce your risk:
- Avoid entering salt or brackish water with cuts, scrapes, recent tattoos, or surgical wounds.
- Cover wounds with a waterproof bandage if water exposure cannot be avoided.
- Eat shellfish only when thoroughly cooked, especially oysters.
- Seek immediate medical care if a wound becomes rapidly painful, swollen, blistered, or if fever develops after coastal water exposure.

Obesity and Your Health: More Than a Number. Obesity is a chronic medical condition that affects millions of Americans and can significantly impact long-term health. Today, more than one-third of U.S. adults are living with obesity, increasing their risk for serious health conditions.

Excess weight can contribute to:

❤️ Heart disease
🩸 High blood pressure
🩺 Type 2 diabetes
🫁 Sleep apnea
🦴 Joint pain and arthritis
⚠️ Certain types of cancer

Obesity-related health complications are also linked to an increased risk of premature death. The good news is that even modest weight loss can improve blood pressure, blood sugar, mobility, and overall well-being.

At Coastal Primary Care, we understand that weight management is a medical journey—not just a number on a scale. Our team provides guidance, support, and personalized care to help patients take steps toward better health.

To all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures—thank you for the positive impact you make every day.

Fathers play an important role in our lives and in our communities. They are teachers, role models, caregivers, problem-solvers, and often the steady presence families rely on through life's challenges and celebrations alike.

While dads spend so much time caring for others, they often put their own health on the back burner. In fact, studies show that men are less likely than women to schedule regular checkups and preventive health screenings.

This Father's Day, we encourage all fathers to make their health a priority. Staying current with annual wellness visits, screenings, and preventive care can help you continue enjoying the moments that matter most with the people you love.

Wishing you a Father's Day filled with family, happiness, and good health.
