Librela can be a helpful option for some dogs living with osteoarthritis pain.
Librela is a once-monthly prescription injection that helps control pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. It’s a monoclonal antibody that targets nerve growth factor (NGF), which plays a role in transmitting pain signals.
You may hear people say it’s “not really a medication,” but more accurately, it isn’t a traditional pain medication like an NSAID. Librela is still a prescription drug; it simply works differently than many of the oral medications pet owners may be familiar with.
