🔎 What are peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. They occur naturally in the body, and many of them act as messengers that help support different biological functions.

Some medications are peptide-based as well, developed for specific medical purposes. But peptide therapy is a broad term, and no two peptides are the same. Each one has its own intended use, its own potential benefits and risks, and its own level of supporting evidence behind it. That is a lot to sort through on your own, and we do not think anyone should have to.

The FDA has approved some peptide medications for specific uses, while some others are not FDA approved but are generally considered safe. Many peptide medications can be used safely when they are appropriately prescribed and monitored, but safety depends on the specific peptide, how it is made, where it comes from, and the patient receiving it. In the coming weeks, we will talk more about peptide sourcing.

Mark Ford, PA-C takes the time to sit down with each patient, listen to what they are dealing with, review their health history and goals, and work with our physicians to determine whether a particular option is appropriate. Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes it is not, and hearing that honestly matters just as much.

Peptides are getting a lot of attention right now, but they are not a one-size-fits-all solution.

At CVOSM, Mark Ford, PA-C, takes a provider-guided approach to restorative health. It starts with getting to know each patient, discussing their goals and concerns, and determining whether peptide therapy may be appropriate for them.

Where peptides come from also matters. Buying products online is very different from receiving care under the supervision of a qualified medical provider.
